OfflineA while back I asked some questions about notebook advice but I don't recall which forum category it was in, I did say I would inform what my decision would be.
At first I decided on three notebooks, Asus, HP, and then a Lenovo. As it happened each time I made the decision to buy that particular model was out of stock.
So it occurred to me I really just needed a phone with more capabilities than my current phone, I hope this model Samsung will be worthy of the price: I bought it from Walmart for $267, it uses StraightTalk (unlimited with tax is $49.99/month) using Verizon towers. Walmart also gave me a $20 credit card. I was pretty impressed with the salesman at Walmart too, he seemed quite knowledgeable about the phones.
Its been four days and I like the phone (still fumbling around with it) but I can return it up to fourteen days, any one else have an experience with this phone either way?

OfflineJust curious -- must you use Verizon? For $299 (plus tax) you can grab the 8GB Nexus 4 which is a much better phone that the Showcase. See http://dottech.org/tag/nexus-4
OfflineI did read about the Nexus 4 here when the article came out and it is a more powerful phone, the reasoning used for choosing the Showcase phone is because Verizon works quite well for me here while AT&T and T-Mobile are not so good, I already have a 16GB SD card for the Showcase plus the Showcase is a StraightTalk phone which is what I've used for about the past 15 months now giving me good reception with unlimited usage for $50/month.
My previous phone is a CDMA Samsung R355C using StraightTalk, I understood it uses Verizon service too so I felt the Showcase should also get good reception and I believe it does, it is also a CDMA (CDMA-V).
The Nexus is the more powerful phone but I'm pretty sure the service of AT&T and T-Mobile for me would be dismal, that is from people who have their service where I live.
And, really, I haven't had any experience with a smartphone nor have I seen anyone else using theirs for anything more than taking a picture or using the GPS feature which is unfortunate for me because I don't know what all they can be used for.
Thank you for the reply.
