OfflineI got anew PC with W7

Now having said that, that is all I know.

Sooo I started this topic so I could ask questions specifically related to W7 so I could get some help in transferring STUFF from this Vista box to my W7 box.
I am starting slow so that I can learn as I go.
My first question is
I am using out look for email. Which file is that I copy over to my backup/K drive so that when I install on the 7 box, I will have all my saved etc email in tact.
Is it the .ost or the .pst or both?

Offlinecant fully remember, but I believe it is the .pst file.. but again, not 100% u positive on that..
iirc.. you Vista and 7 has ability to do a sort of "backup" or "transfer" between your old Vista to the new 7 machine… on 7 (think same if you do it on vista) just go to start and on the Search box, it is Windows Easy Transfer.. It will walk you through the steps.. You can put everything onto a USB drive and move it from one PC to the other..
I did that when I changed over to win7 and helped me out a lot..
Hope helps.

OfflineCongrats on the new computer and having Windows 7. I'm sure you'll end up liking it a lot within a few days.
As for transfering files to your new computer, I have one word for ya: Dropbox.
If you're not using that yet, start. I was very hesitant to download and use it, but now am so happy that I did.
If you don't have it on your computers yet, here's a link you can use to get it: https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTY4OTAxODk5
Put Dropbox on both computers and your swapping files will be so easy you'll be shocked. IMO it's much less hassle than using an external drive. But that's just me, others may not agree.

Offline@ Ebony: Congrats also on the new system. It's helpful to also use the compatibility feature when installing new progs on Win 7. You can do that by right-clicking on a prog and then going to "properties". In there you will find a compatibility tab. Just set it for Vista and you should be right. You can do that for all users under that tab. Have fun!

@ Joji: Not that difficult a feat when posts are based on rants and great degrees of nothingness. Sorry, but it's true. Let's hope your next 250 are more targeted and more informative – and on-topic.
Those were only… I think 15 or less… the rest were, well, not rants. Not truly nothingness, just, it's just… it's general talk… Uhm ya… so lets see… about 25 or more legit posts then I'm really Grand Master.

I said "or more". Can't you read!?
Besides, I kept telling you guys that I don't post links to get free non-legit stuff! Then you guys kept on telling me to stop posting them when I never did! Geez man. That's why it became an argument. Now Phoenix… if you don't mind… just please… stop thinking if I'm a total jack"-a-mole" or something all right? If you want to retaliate, then do that through PM. Thanks…

Offline@ Ebony: I second Wheezer's recommendation of Dropbox. It's fantastic. You can also install Dropbox Folder Sync, with which you can add any folder to Dropbox with a right-click. You can get it at: http://wiki.dropbox.com/Dropbo…..FolderSync
@ Joji: Probably not worth responding to another rant, but lighten up …

@Ebony
You can invite other people to try Dropbox. Everytime someone joins, you get 245MB (I think) of space and it could go up to 8GB intsead of the regular 2GB.
I have an issue of MaximumPC which talks about the specs and benchmarks of Win7. If you would like to read it, let me know, then I'll get the scanner ready.

Thanks PR
OK on the installing new programs and the compatibility suggestions. I was just wondering, if the program is a 7 and vista program, what is reason for clicking on the compatibility tab. See why I have to go slow. Because I am slow….
