Hi folks! Avanquest is giving away ABBYY PDF transformer 1.o if anyone is interested. The current version is 3.0, so it’s somewhat dated. However, I have a couple of ABBYY products installed on my laptop and they are high quality. So if you want this, just go to: http://web.avanquest.com/special_offers/10jours_2008/REGISTER/AQFR/D18/bsq_bon_plan.cfm

It’s in French, but it’s obvious what to do. Just enter your email and click. You’ll then be taken to another page to fill in your details. Click again and done.

If you want to see what’s in version 3.0 (priced at $79), go to: http://pdftransformer.abbyy.com/

I think that ABBYY’s best software is their OCR, but it would be worth this a try.Wink

Is there a time limit by when I have to install it. I never understood the rationale behind that.

@ Ebony: No time limit for installation is specified, so I doubt there is one. As long as you get your serial number, you should be right to install it any time you want. I usually do that with progs that I think will be useful at some point. I download them and get the serial, but save the install until the time comes when I need them. So far no problems with that approach. The time-limited offers like GOTD are just for a set installation period – but they’re generally the exception rather than the rule.

@ Ebony: ABBYY progs are top notch, so even if this is an older version, it’s good to grab good software while it’s being offered. Same with Snagit screen capture – when the 7.5 version was released as freeware, I grabbed it. It might have been a bit long in the tooth, but it was, IMHO, the best out there (and I eventually paid to upgrade anyway as it is one of my most-used progs).

Thanks Phoenix

Glad to hear that because the “hurry up and install” is annoying. I wan to install when I have a use for it so I can give it a full evaluation.

Yep I did get the number and tucked it away in a folder.

This sounds promising. Question though, how is it’s conversion performance since its an old version?

I save my freebie reg keys in a folder on my email account, so that there’s no fear of losing all the keys to a crash. Wink

Not bad at all. Comparable to other converters (maybe even better).

@ freewarelite: Agreed. ABBYY makes really good progs. You can also get ABBYY FineReader 6.0 Sprint OCR software for free from http://www.abbyy.com/register_magazine_Computer_Active

@ Ebony: When I did the search, I saw that that site also has another ABBYY program – and a good one. However, given that they just post the serial number, I don’t think it’s legit. But you can check it out anyway and decide for yourself. Good luck!

@ Ebony: You’ll have to search on that site. Easy enough as you know the brand.

I see the other program. I was too focused on the other one. I will search and give followup if warranted. (If it is worth talking about)

How do you all find all these sites? Lotsa good stuff.

Thanks for the heads up. You Rock.
