I posted a reply to this question on yesterday and it is not here. This is the second time that has happened. The other time it was a different forum and I just let go.

I would say yes to ..."reading the bottom of the thread"

To be forewarned is forearmed. It just might help someone avoid a headache, or at least know the issues that we encountered.

@ Locutus: I think it's just a case of being careful and being informed before installing. I'm sure there are people out there who haven't had problems with this software, but I'd hazard a guess that they are the minority. And maybe the developer can use the feedback to improve the prog – especially in relation to not being able to manually override it. Between this forum post and the comments in the promo article Ashraf wrote (http://dottech.org/freebies/17.....al+Feed%29), there is plenty of food for thought for would-be users, and plenty of room for improvement for the developer. Maybe something good will come out of it. Who knows?

WOW,

I agree P_R, I could not find a way to exit or get the icon out of the tray and when I clicked on scheduler, nothing happened. I thought maybe I did not have the settings correct. Even after reading the help manual, there was no topic regarding shutting down the program.

Maybe I misunderstood the purpose of the program or how it was suppose to work, but I do not want SW on my machine that I cannot control.

Freebies are good but I am going to start looking at their reviews more closely and not rely on the features that dev is pushing. As for the time limitation, I am not going to be controlled like that.

After reading your post, I immediately revo'd and then came back and posted.

@ Gioneo: It wiped a lot of things that shouldn't have been wiped. Very aggressive. I had used its file back-up facility, but that proved useless when it came to reinstating those files. And I could find no way to stop it running automatically (perhaps someone else had some luck with this, because I sure couldn't find a way around it). It's mxtask is always active and cannot be shut down through the task manager. Just sat there chewing up my CPU. Maybe some other people have had good experiences with it, but for me it was all around negative. And from the reviews I have now belatedly read, it seems the negative experiences have far outweighed the positive. I just worry about Ebony. I would hate her to lose anything lest she have the same experience as I did.

@ Ebony: I installed this and wished I hadn't. I did what I normally would not do – and that is install without checking out reviews/tests. Bad move. Had I done so, I would not have installed it. This prog proved to be a nightmare. Thankfully I backed everything up beforehand and could do a quick restore. And thankfully I was able to Revo it. But be careful, ok. It has the potential to do some serious damage.

As I said my probs is knowing the needed settings to configure it properly.

I am reading the help screen which is very helpful.

I am finding one thing I do not like is, that it does not have an option to exit so that the icon is not in the tray at all times.

Do you make a checkpoint EVERYTIME you reboot? What is the reasoning?

I am still reading the help, maybe that will answer my ?.

Ebony, as I have understood it over the years (fan of their Power Suite and Power Desk), the Fix It app is selected tools drawn from the Power Suite. There may be something extra, haven't looked. I have been very happy with their products for over 12 years. I think the checkpoint is similar to the Windows restore point. When ever Windows creates a restore point, I make a checkpoint too, have often found the checkpoint to be more reliable than windows restore point when I have needed to use a restore point.

"And now for something completely different":

The info Ashraf posted says giveaway does not start until 3PM PST.
