Phoenix: Really, don't give it another thought. I'll feel bad if I think you're holding back because of something stupid I said!

I see this whole chat as a boost to both you and I getting closer to breaking the 500 mark. Smile

I had to check one last time before I pull the blankets up and turn off the light. And look what I found.

Noticed at one stage I was within spitting distance of making it on the top posters short list – but then got the flu and lost ground. Cry Not that it bothers me really, I'd rather stick to the real techie stuff ('cause that's what brought me here in the first place) most of the time.

So, what's this "Fence" desktop thing you guys seem to have casually mentioned? Is it worth a look and, if so, the link please. Confused

I wonder what Google wants with BumpTop.

I was wondering that too. But since I don't really know what BumpTop does, yet, I didn't make the Android connection.

I remember seeing a video a while back about a program that lets you stack items on your desktop like cards and move them around, even placing them on the walls around your desk. I'm guessing BumpTop will be something like that.

I could see google wanting that kind of feature for the Android.

BumpTop is a very cool software that turns your desktop in to a 3D playground on which you can push and pull icons and throw them literally into the Recycle Bin.

BTW, previously BumpTop was freeware! What happened?!?!

@ Freewarelite: To the best of my knowledge – and I did look into this prog about a year ago or so – there has always been a pro and a free version available.

Since many people are trying to download BumpTop, I have uploaded the installer to SendSpace here:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/gq8ow9

Anyone interested is suggested to use this mirror as it is about 5 times faster on my medium-speed connection.

You are so right about the dl time. It went so quick, I had to check the file size to make sure I had it all. Good job.

@Locutus

Fences is cool.

@phoenix_rising

Fences is a better option for the desktop, IMHO.

I agree with both of you. SurprisedLaughLaugh
What I like about Fences is I can create my categories based on my behavior. I think I lookded at BTP a while back and decided, Fences was the one for me.

Having said all that, I still DL it, hey what can I say, it is free.WinkWink

Thanks. Checked your link and then recalled having dismissed Fences on first review as being not suitable for my purposes – that's why I had not remembered it this time round. My second review now reconfirms my first opinion – Fences does not impress me at all. To me, it looks ugly.

With over 100 icons (when displayed using view toggle on/off right click), and many more counting the ones hidden inside topicalised folders, I have a serious screen clutter issue. Frown

Have recently begun using Start Menu7 to re-organise everything and find it is like a breath of fresh air in comparison – only time will tell if it really can stay the course. Smile

Another interesting utility I am trying on an XP laptop is Tabbles – but that's another story.

For now, seems like I will have to follow advice given in this topics title and "grab BumpTop before it's gone" and try it for myself.

Thanks to Wheezer for bringing this one to light.

Much appreciated. :) Regretably, it's another one of those RapidShare type sites.
