I've been looking for a place to host our fire department website, for free. It's on godaddy right now, but I don't like the banner at the top of the page that they put on free hosted sites.
Might give this one a try. ???

Thanks for the info Locutus.
I took a look and found their service won't work because they'd charge us to use our own domain name. Which is already out in the pulbic eye enough around here that changing it now, just to get free hosting would get me in trouble. I see they also place ads on sites that have the free hosting too. So that part wouldn't be much different from godaddy.
It was tough to get the department board of directors to put out the money for a 5 year registration of the domain name. I'm sure they wouldn't ok spending for hosting too.
They're not “that cheap,” it's just that we're a volunteer fire department that barely makes it by every year by having fund-raising events. We have a greater need of updating personal protection equipment and trucks than we do in having a website.
But again, thank you for the info. I'd never heard of them before, and if it would have worked out, it would have been great!
