Make Digital Backups of DVDs – Even When Scratched or Worn
Sure, DVD discs are technically "durable" because they're in physical form and can't be deleted like files. But they are subject to a bunch of hazards that files never see – scratches, smudges, cracks, footprints, peanut butter, marker, the list is endless! So, to be safe, better make digital backup copies of your DVDs while you still can. To get you started, here's today's discount software promotion, WinX DVD Copy Pro!

Bits du Jour ran this same Digiarty promotion in July last year. I downloaded it, installed the licence, and have used it ever since. Compared to all other software offerings in this genre, Digiarty's has consistently been the easiest to use and the most reliable. Note: I'm *not* saying it's the best. The best is software which allows you to fine-tune every conceivable parameter. This doesn't. Nor do its rivals from Ashampoo and Wondershare etc et al. However, having used a battery of programs in the past to achieve, er, perfection, I've found that the Digiarty product yields results in a fraction of the time and with no discernible difference to the stuff I've spent several hours laboring away at.
The version number of the software given away in July last year was 3.4.5. This is 3.4.7. It may not sound like that big a difference, but it incorporates various elements (to do with DVD copying, no need to say more -- and no, I'm not in the habit of 'backing up' stuff that I don't own) that actually needed updating in view of advances made by movie studio / distributor publishers.
Definitely recommended, which is a bit unusual for me to say as I generally have little time for commercialware of this nature. Grab it while you can: it has never let me down.
NB: I team it with the free edition of Ashampoo's Burning Studio -- so good that I've never needed to buy the full product at retail. Even in freeware guise, Ashampoo beats Nero's bloatware (and especially Nero 'Lite'.)
