First off: sincere apology to whatever email newsletter alerted me to this; I didn’t make a note of which one it was.
For years I have created PDF files using one of the many tools which acts as a fake printer.
Another method just came to my attention: 7-PDF Maker. The distinguishing characteristic of 7-PDF is that it operates directly on the file (select the file in Windows Explorer, right click and choose the 7-PDF item). One resulting feature is that URL links are maintained. NONE of the free “fake printer” tools can do this (I think – haven’t tested every single one).
You can get it at: http://www.7-pdf.de/. The website is in German, but the program can install in English or German. The download link is the orange square on the right side. Below that orange square is a link to the manual in English.
