US developer Pointstone Software has been arouond for quite a few years now, and its 'System Cleaner' is anything but an immature product. Currently, Pointstone is running a 100% off promotion with US giveaway / discount website Bits du Jour, which must be good news for BDJ seeing as an inexplicably cavalier approach to vetting the developers it associates with has put at risk its worth / usefulness -- last month it had to withdraw the ransomware Clearomizer from an Indian developer claiming to be Canadian (the 'developer' actually specialises in 'fixing' people's computers at a high price) and then yesterday it ran a blatant Eastern European scam product Audio Transcoder which ripped off Open Source original material and sought to charge for it. BDJ at least managed to cancel both "offers" midway through, yet it need only have spent a few minutes looking at the websites of both so-called developers to see that something was manifestly wrong.
No such problems today though. Pointstone is genuine. The BDJ offer is a good one. I don't normally go in for optimizers of any kind, preferring to use CCleaner's registry cleaner as and when because it's non-aggressive and reliable. But I've used Pointstone's System Cleaner in the past and never experienced any difficulties with it. Worth trying out.
Thanks for the post. I had seen it at BDJ, but dismissed it for the very reasons you outlined. Anyway it looks quite professional, I'm doing a scan as I speak/write/type.
Only downside is that updates are only free for 6 months, but that's enough time to evaluate.
Those who will not reason are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not are slaves.
Hi jayestee. Yup, definitely worth trying out. What has impressed me especially about this software is that everything, but everything, is explained in clear concise English, not mistranslated Chinese or some other language. Pointstone does seem to have invested a lot of time in this program over the years so that explains its 'mature' feel. And there's considerably more in the way of facilties and user-choose control than any comparable software I can think of.
** UPDATE: Just noticed, Pointstone is running the 100% discount offer for a second day today, I don't use Facebook so simply went through the little BDJ questionnaire to get the download:
PS: Just to clarify: I have absolutely no connection with Pointstone Software. As I've just told Ashraf in a different post, my heart belongs to Aiseesoft.
