"This software is completely free of charge but if you use it regularly then we would be happy if you would give us a small tip. This helps us to improve the software. As a small thank you, you will automatically receive a plus verison."
Offline@ Jeanjean: Thanks for passing it on. Abelssoft generally make good software (I use their Wash'n'Go and am happy with it), but this one apparently doesn't set the world on fire. It gets a three-star rating (out of five) on Cnet (http://download.cnet.com/CheckDrive/3000-2094_4-10820124.html?tag=mncol#rateit) and only two stars from users. So I'll pass on it.

Offline@ Conno9: It states in the blurb that Jeanjean copied over: "CheckDrive offers you an easy way of checking your PCs hard drives for errors. Those errors can be fixed immediately if you like."
Kinda sounds like a PC mechanic, but perhaps not a very effective one. According to the Cnet write-up: "The app doesn't list problems or even the number of errors found. It simply flashes a message that errors were found and asks users to press a button to start repair. Oddly, testers reported that the repair process often failed with the message that CheckDisk could not lock the drive. It was easy enough to click to repair the drive at next boot, but, again, that's no improvement over Chkdsk."

I found the time to install and to test it on the drive C.
Confirmation : it found fault, but could not fix them … and proposes to launch a chkdsk at reboot.
Advantages: – check drives while keeping the PC more or less available.
– allows direct access to Wash & Go (probably detected on the PC).
– indicates whether a defrag is needed (direct access to JetDrive – same developer – if detected???)
Disadvantage: – double check in case of problem(s).
BTW, you must register to unlock the program.
