Hi everyone. Before I head off for a few days' break, I just wanted to let you know that Immunet Protect has come out of beta and has been updated to "Immunet Protect 2". There is a free version and a Plus version ($19.95). I use the free one, and it's good, IMHO. Just be careful when installing this version as it does ask if you want to install the Ask.com toolbar. Otherwise, all should be fine. You can get it at the Immunet site: http://www.immunet.com/main/index.html

Sounds like a new AV Product!

Let's see…

  • it seems to be a cloud based scanner…
  • rootkit detection and removal…
  • deep scan…
  • email scan…
  • schedualed scan…
  • archive protection… (that's real good! :D)
  • detect and remove packets…
  • 24/7 suppor! WOOT! FTW!

It's also compatible with the following AV Programs:

  • AVG
  • Avast!
  • Avira
  • Norton Anti-Virus, Internet Security, 360
  • McAfee
  • Microsoft Security Essentials
  • Trend Antivirus
  • K7

Not only that, but they provide the free version AND the paid version! It's pretty neat!

So… so far this AV Product is MLG LEGIT!

Warning! Song contains low amounts of swearing… you have been warned, but the song is epic! :D

Their hilariously funny promotional video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..FCRoX-xsWw

You got to watch it! It's so friggin funny! XD Though check this out:

  • the kids in the video are spoiled
  • they have twitter, facebook, and a whole lot other stuff
  • facebook!? There're too young to have facebook!
  • don't their parents monitor them over the internet!?

So it's kinda… educational and a bit… dumb? Dunno, what do you think?

@ Joji: For the countless time, could you please stop thread-jacking. This forum post is about Immunet. If you want to post about something completely unrelated, then start another topic for it. How come you just don't get this? I'm so sick of it.

It's a promotion video for Immunet Protect 2… it's kinda funny. Maybe you should relax a bit, eh?

@ Joji: Then say it's about Immunet rather than posting blind links. Over-reacting? Don't think so. Just sick of your antics. And I know I'm not the only one. Have you considered ritalin?

But I "did" say it's about Immunet Protect 2… don't you see it?

I'm just relating how the commercial they made for the product was a bit odd. I mean it's like saying "COME ON KIDS MAKE A YOUTUBE, FACEBOOK, AND TWITTER ACCOUNT AND CLICK ON EVERY MALICIOUS LOOKING LINK AND OUR PRODUCT WILL KEEP YOUR SAFE! :D

Get it? I dunno. I made a slight mistake, the kids aren't spoiled in the commercial vid, just, if the parents were more careful, they wouldn't have that much baddies from the internet coming right at their kids.

BTW, ritalin!? Why are you draft? Why would I try ritalin? Though I guess a few are annoyed, I tried to minimize, and yes they are related to the thread. So Phoenix… maybe you should calm down a bit? I mean, this time, it's related. The video describes how the kids are getting too many viruses on the internet and how Immunet can protect them.

Besides, everyone loves Joji, or most people actually. For some real wierd reason, I'm naturally popular where ever I got to…. O_O Everyone is like HI JOJI HI JOJI HI JOJI HI JOJI and oh boy, who are they? How do they know me!? LoL.

The promotional video was supposed to be funny. Didn't you hear the kid say "Now my quarterly report is destroyed, and my board presentation is tomorrow!". The kids in the video don't really have Facebook's and what not :???:

Does it really matter about the video!Yell

Joji the first thing you posted, actually about what the program does was useful, but the rest was not. You could have simply posted a link to the video and said this is a promotional video by immunet. And then you begin to argue that you are not threadjacking, when you actually now are as the subject of this entire thread has now been taken over by you arguing again that you don't thread jack!!

I appreciate that you have really made a dramatic change in your language now, as in you no longer swear as much (it makes converations sound friendlier), but you are still thread jacking. Please just leave the video now, if you are going to say anything else, DO NOT LET IT BE AN ARGUMENT WITH ME!!! Just make it a personal review of immunet and how good or bad it was for you, without violence and swear words.

But now please just stop this Video argument, it's just completely pathetic now!Yell

@phoenix_rising: Looks to be a great piece of software, i noticed that you had pointed it out in another security thread before, although i wasn't too sure of it. Now that i know it's a cloud antivirus AND it's compatible with others, i may just give it a tryWink. Thanks for pointing it outSmile

If at all possible could you please give your own opinion/review of it and inform me of it's resource usage. If you don't mind. i just like to know as much about a program as possible before i install it.

Cheers,

Uhm I'm not "really" threadjacking… Confused So first I said how it was promotional video, then Phoenix went rambo at me, then I replied to him in detail about why I posted that comment and why the video wasn't beast, and an applogy that I over exaderated on some parts in my original comment. Then someone pointed out that one thing I said wasn't correct from the video, which in turn made me confused, but I sworn I heard about it during the video. And now your'e going rambo at me… Technically, it could have ended, but then you came in and went rambo at me. I had no intention of arguing continuously.  Just Gvape made me a bit confused, you get it? So I told him to perhaps rewatch it to confirm that… I hope you understand Conn. Thanks.

Look, the way it was going Joji, it was going to carry on, as i would assume phoenix_rising would have replied to the thread arguing with you because you said he/she was over exaggerating and "going Rambo" on you. Then you would have replied trying to defend yourself by going on and on about how the video was relevant…….etc.

I understand what you were trying to do, but you dragged it on too long, just look back at all the post's you made arguing with others about the video. You could have just left it.

Even if i hadn't cut in, It would NOT have ended! It never does! Whenever this happens you continue to argue with someone, i'm not trying to be offensive, i am simply trying to end this quickly, THAT WAS WHY I SAID IN MY REPLY!!!! :

Please just leave the video now, if you are going to say anything else, DO NOT LET IT BE AN ARGUMENT WITH ME!!! Just make it a personal review of immunet and how good or bad it was for you

Did you not read it. i try to be nice and end these quickly but now the subject of this entire thread has become about you again. I had nothing against you at all. Until you started this again, you should have just left it but now it's too late. You could at least just leave this argument now and admit what many of the dottechies have told you already………that you thread jack. Just Leave it now.

As i said before, if your going to reply, DO NOT LET IT BE AN ARGUMENT AGAIN!!!!!!!! I am absolutely fed up with this now. If you are going to reply again at least make it relevant to the subject title and try to get the thread that you thread jacked back on. Heck! if you just stoped this we could all just get along or even be friends. Thats what Ashraf wanted from this, a friendly community, where we would get along and help each other. Right now, if you look at most of the threads you've posted in you'll find that everyone is quite annoyed.

Now please just leave it, lest this argument will continue forever!

Immunet protect 2 seems to be quite a good piece of software. On first site it seems to look a bit dodgy IMHO. But under all it's not so nice GUI, it seems to be quite a powerful, lightweight cloud antivirus.

Firstly, it should be kept on all the time to provide Heuristics based virus protection and also a community based protection, actually much like Norton Internet Security 2010 that i use. The community protection simply provides protection by finding a suspicious file and analysing what other users of Immunet did with the file, e.g. if they agreed that it was a virus, then the file would be quarantined or removed. The pro paid version provides all of the above protection but also includes a normal "traditional antivirus" function, which i imagine would provide signiture based protection.

Secondly, i do not know the quality of the Tech Support but a number is actually given in the program, the number is toll free support should you need it, although you will most likely still have to pay for overseas calls should you live in another country, which can add up to a lot of money. Immunet protect is also compatible with many other popular antivirus, and it is very light on resources, using only around 2 – 3 Mb when running, even when running a scan, it uses a small proportion of the cpu when scanning also, but not so much you'd be stuck with a crawling computer. It is also very quick to install and there is no restart needed to finish the install, although be wary if you uninstall as the program must be restarted and it still does not remove much at all, i used revo wihich could not delete the files until restart, even after i restarted the files were still there so i had to remove them manually.

I think it would be useful as a lightweight antivirus supplement, although to fully utilise it's functions it would have to be kept on all the time, this means it would now be much use as an on demand scanner. Although it is perfect otherwise. My one beef with this program is that now the free version hosts an ad that pops up on the right hand side of the programs screen advertising it's pro version, i don't know about you but i really don't like adverts.

Thanks phoenix_rising for telling us about this.

i have use immunet for a month now…work together with ms security essential and online armor. so far no conflict between those 3.

actually i don't get any benefit from immunet because i don't see any security alert or something like that…is it because i play safe internet? not think so hahaha

oh btw…the difference between immunet ver 1 and ver 2 is you need to register with ver 2 to connect to the cloud (correct me if i'm wrong)

Hey Sunrise, welcome to Dottech Smile

Yeah we're trying to calm down, we're having a few problems with certain members atm, thanks for helping to get this thread back on track.

I'm no sure if you do have to register to use the cloud, i saw the register window appear, but i told it no and it still allowed me to use it, i think the register window was just if you wanted updates about the program and company by email.

Your the same as me, i don't really have any benefit from immunet as i never actually get any virus' (touchwood) and the times when i do get a virus, i know i've got a virus before it knows it's on a computer, so i don't actually need immunet, i have uninstalled it, although i have kept the installer and the site handy just in caseWink. Immunet would be good for those that are always going to unknown sites and have not much other protection, although i must admit it seems to be a very useful program.

Thanks,

Yes I would… -_-" I would stop. What are you talking about? I really would. You didn't have to give me a 1/2 of page of "JOJI STHckU (shut the heck up) CAUSE YOU'RE SPAMMING WAY TOO MUCH RUBBISH THINGS ON THE FORUMS" stuff, 'cause I would stop. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to set up Virtual Box to test this thing…

Joji, all i have to say now, is thanks.Smile

Hey whats your computer setup? i'm just curios what your running, hardware-wise? Whenever i make a virtual machine in Virtualbox my computer doesn't seem to like the amount of space it takes up on the hard disk and starts slowing slightly, so i end up having a VM for about an hour, then delete it.

Tell us how it goes with Immunet after you've tested it.

Thanks,

Download program: 1 secound

Install Time: 5 minutes (I think…)

Ad Supported: Yes, can be closed

Flash Scan: 1 minute

Full Scan: ~40 minutes (based on my 20GB C drive, not sure if it scanned D or H drive)

Popups: Only when it finds a virus

Details: Very detailed, shows monthly results, bar graph, full explainations of trusted and untrusted files and why they were quarantined

Support: 24/7, it's free

Lag: Medium amounts of lag. Lagged my entire system while scanning… be aware.

Extras: Shows CPU and Memory usage

I hope that somewhat helps… Ask me if you have any more questions. Now if you excuse me, I'm going back to watch my favorite anime that i watched back in 2002…

Thanks Joji for your review of the program, hopefully this will help others that may be undecided about whether to use the program or not.

I didn't notice any lag until i started a scan, but that is natural for all antivirus as they scan….unfortunately. My one suspicion is of the "free" support, it may be a free number but all have to bear in mind that it may cost a significant amount for people that call overseas as they will be charged by their phone providers for overseas calls.

Thanks Joji,
