Yes, when I started the scan, it lagged. Though, my Eset Horrible-Ware and Malwarebytes' never lagged my system.

BTW, this thing even includes Gaming Mode!

Isn't awesome? Even though Immunet may seem quite amazing, it's not considered as the best. In my opinion, it wouldn't recieve a high rating or even a "Kick Ass" award from my favorite magazine, MaximumPC. This is because it lags when scanning (which I wish it wouldn't), and there aren't enough "extras" to make this a "really good AV Program".

Yeah i noticed the gaming mode too, is it any good?

TBH i  uninstalled immunet in the same hour that i installed itWink. It just didn't look or feel right, there were plenty of portable scanners to keep me happy and if i was suspicious of a virus i would install Malwarebytes. The immunet program just doesn't, for a start, look right…..to me it looks like a dodgy scarewareWink. Secondly, i just don't think it could do any better than what i have atm and installing it and keeping it would just be a waste of my time and resources. So that's basically why i uninstalled it.

I agree with you, it's nothing special at all, there are plenty of other antivirus out there, and a lot better cloud ones than that, like Hitman PRO and Panda Cloud, even Emsisoft's got it's own cloud antimalware. And tbh all of them LOOK better tooSmile, and they are quite well known so i trust in them.

Cheers,

well…at least this one is free :P but so far i'm satisfied with my combination (Ms Security Essential + Online Armor)

Same, Intel Core 2, Lenovo T400, 4GB of RAM. Ooooh your laptop is very similar to mines! Laugh

BTW, MS Security Essential in my own opinion, is truly a scareware. It's so scary, that not many people knew there was a hidden spyware in it, until people dig through the program! Surprised

Yes, so say I have a cracked version of Halo 1 (which I have, 'cause we all wanted to lan party! Cool Don't get me wrong. I buy games too you know. I don't have many cracked games, only 2-3. The rest are all legit games.)

So anyways… MS Security Essentials will detect my cracked Halo 1 game, and secretly reports to Microsoft that I have one, so that Microsoft can somehow do something to decrease the distribution of cracked Halo 1 games.

This does not just apply for games. It could be anything that is illegal such as cracked security programs.

…..no, that's not why it did that.  It sees that it's cracked--how did you crack it?  Did you install a regular copy and then crack it, or install a cracked version?  Well anyway, after it detects the cracked version, it thinks it has a virus--a lot of times those cracks are either false positives, or worse not false positives.  Or, it may have also shown the "we don't have this in our database yet, do you want to send it in so we can tell if this is bad or not?" screen.

Also, what do you not get about not talking about cracked software on dotTech?

But I'm not sharing any cracked programs or games. I'm just saying how MSE is like Google Chrome… They collect data from your computer or something. I'm not very sure; I read it on lifehacker or something. I'm just using cracked games as an example, because that's what they do. MSE pretty much sends the information from your computer to them, analysis the data from the "illegally downloaded program" and informs the companies or if its their own programs and apps, they improve it so those cracked programs and games won't work due to the update.

But again, I'm not completely sure. I'll find the article later that talked about why MSE isn't that trusted.

Though, Immunet did quarantine 2 supposingly safe files which I downloaded off from a trusted source of portable games. No, I will not tell you the link. Go search it yourself or buy it off Steam… which I did after I realized fun the games were. :P

BTW Locutus. All my PC, Wii, PSP, and a few DS games are acutally bought from the store. Some of my DS games are R4s. One of the reason why I use an R4, is because some games that I want are from overseas like in Japan! I don't plan on buying them over Ebay, and I only visit Japan once every year! Sure I'm a bit unethical, but I'm not completely unethical… right?

All my programs and apps are either free, from GAOTD, Dot.Tech exclusives, or bought from the store. Very few of my programs are actually cracked (not cracked, free product keys), like FastStone, and Camtasia 7… the rest are all bought. You hear that? All bought. I'm not completely unethical… I'm planning to purchase Camtasia for christmas anyways… I support the developers so no worries.

Can anyone say paranoid?  All that article proves is it can tell wether or not other Microsoft products are pirated.  Confused  Plus if you weren't someone who used illegal software ("oh it's only two pieces, soon to be one!" is still two pieces) you wouldn't have any problems.

Read "Little Brother" by Cory Docotorow. You can find an online copy… just click this link and download the e-book: http://craphound.com/littlebrother/download/

Yes, it's all legit. It's the author's official website. No it's not cracked, or anything. Got it?

He's a Canadian and the book is all about technology, hacks, history of tech, and how a teenager suffered from a terrorist attack in his city, mistakenly cought by the police, and later uhm… just read the book. Cool

True, but sometimes, I'd like to be paranoid… I like to keep my own privacy safe from the public…

There's a lot of people who probably owns way more pirated stuff than I do… that includes music, movies, etc. I own very little btw… -_-"

BTW, I think we should do this through PM if you want to continue to "talk about this", alright? You know what I'm talking about… End of discussion.

You don't own any of it.

Plus, dotTech is supposed to be a legal place, remember: Ashraf gave up his legally gray activities a long time ago. (I remember reading that somewhere on this site, lol.)

Ooh, found it.  Go to Freebies>All Freebies.

I gave up my ‘illegal’ activities long ago – but I still like freebies.
Here you will find posts about how to attain commercial software for
free – 100% legit!

So yah.

You know, it's quite funny….as soon as Joji mentioned that he had cracked software i knew something like this was gonna happen…..Wink

I completely agree with you there Locutus.

@Joji: in the end you are in the wrong. Piracy is wrong and you know it, even if you are planning on buying it anyway, you shouldn't be pirating it.

There's a lot of people who probably owns way more pirated stuff than I do…

Joji, no offence, but that just sounds really childish now…like the old "all the other people were doing it". And here is the age old answer to that, "It doesn't matter if the other people were doing it, if they were jumping off a cliff would you do it too" i know it's not exactly like that but it has the same perspective. You think that just because other people may have more pirated material than you, you think you are in the right, but your not.

Plus as Locutus say's:

Plus if you weren't someone who used illegal software  you wouldn't have any problems.

You wouldn't have to worry about programs calling home about the apps you have installed if you didn't pirate them in the first place.

No stop trying to fight (AGAIN) for a lost cause. Pirating material is wrong, we all know it, heck some of us have most likely done it once, but we all understand that it is wrong. And as Locutus say's, You shouldn't talk about it at all on here as Ashraf did not want anything like pirated software tied to Dottech.

It's gotten out of hand.

Agreed… Hopefully Joji will realise and stop now, at least that would be one step forward.

Here's the rule from Ashraf…Joji i think you should read this:

Any freebies posted must be 100% legit and legal. No cracks, warez, etc. nor are you allowed to post freebies that are for specific magazine subscribers only.

So do not even talk about pirated or cracked software.
