@PCBasics – It's usually better to post a link to the webpage that has the download on it rather than posting the link to the installer directly.

@ Karen: Agreed. It should be mandatory. As has been said, we need to know if the offer is legit and if it is ok to just post from another site without attribution. This is potentially a very dangerous practice and one that could well place dotTech on some thin legal ground if things are posted that are exclusive to other sites/PC mags, etc.
@ PCbasics: If you can't post from where it came, then don't post it at all, IMO. Yourpalal wrote a good forum warning yesterday on the dangers of this. There are lots of giveaways on lots of sites, but most seem to me to be very suspicious. It's important to be discerning, particularly as any suss postings endanger the crediility and legitimacy that Ashraf has built up on dotTech. No point risking this for possibly dodgy giveaways. There's plenty of good freeware out there will most likely do the job just as well.
Offline@ PCbasics: Wow, having a quick look through the forums, I can see that heaps of these have been posted and yanked. Your enthusiasm is great, but it's time to exercise some caution, hey. Just because they're out there (and there are plenty out there) doesn't make them legit or worth posting about. Channel your obviously prodigious talent for finding stuff down more legit avenues and I'm sure we will all be hailing you as the new King of Freebies.

@ Locutus: Thanks!
You're welcome! (Let's stop talking about this-it's what always happens with double posts.
Post One: "blah blah blah"
Post Two: "Sorry about the double post"
Post Three: "I fixed it!"
Post Four: "Thanks!"
Post Five: "You're welcome!"
)
OfflineLocutus and Phoenix: If I didn't know better,,, I'd say you're just trying to inflate your post count.
Altho in Phoenix's case she's already at the top, so she may be helping Locutus reach that magic post 1,000.
Since it looks like you'll hit that number tonight Locutus, may I be the first to say "Congratulations"!!! (clapping and jumping up and down while yelling Yee-Ha!)

Totally worth making my 1000th post! Here's to another 1000 from all of you; you've been a great community to work with. The food is complementary, the drinks are $1.00 each. Desert is not being served.

Thanks again for re-affiriming what I posted….
You really covered this well in several posts here in response to the recent overwhelming flood of freebies that have not been verified/checked out 1st, & why it matters what is going on here to each of us who care, & to Ashraf's enourmous contributions & efforts.
Offline@ Yourpalal: It was a good forum post yesterday – and very timely. I definitely appreciate PCbasic's enthusiam – and I certainly appreciate a good find when one is made. It's just always better to be safe than sorry, as the old saying goes.
