To further elaborate on belacan's post, ScreenPresso is a really professional looking screen video capture software – that means it can be used to record what shows up on your PC monitor, webcam, etc. as a video.

However, this seems like blatant advertising! At least it is a free software, unlike those converter posts previously made by spammers. I am still considering reporting this post, though. Yell

@Adrian: It could be spam, but I don't think so – spam typical tries to hide itself as a legit post whereas the OP for this post clearly made no effort to do so.

Did anyone check Screenpresso out?

 

I had a look at Gizmo's and learnt that Screenpresso has an update checker which can't be turned off and it sends back usage data to the author. I'm not keen on that idea.

If I understand the post at Gizmo's correctly,  Screenpresso won't even work if you block its access to the net.

Why does a program that isn't designed to use the internet exclusively, REQUIRE an Internet Connection to run? And exactly what is that connection being used for? I wouldn't trust this software – seems like a serious red-flag to me.

How to lose friends and not influence people: if, as reported here, screenpresso will only function if allowed Internet access, then it isn't a product to merit endorsement on dot tech.

Developers are perfectly able to write software in such a way that user/chooser options exist from the get-go.

I've no problem with any software which dials out in the interests of seeking updates or newer versions. . . providing I have the option to turn off that dial-out component: after all, I can check for myself as and when.

Screenpresso is shooting itself in the foot if the posts on here are accurate, because I won't be alone in resolving not to go anywhere near it. And, as earlier noted, Screenpresso really doesn't deserve any kind of recommendation if it is yet *another* product which exists to serve the interests of its developer first, and the user second -- instead of t'other way around.
