Third, Threatfire is infamous for not playing well with other software and adding it *might* make you wish that you hadn't. Don't know if it has been fixed, but Avira (I think) *used* to have a big-time problem with TF.

Have been using ThreatFire with Avira for a few months and have not seen any problems. (Would use a Smiley that showed 'Crossed fingers' or 'Touch wood' if they had them available).

Also, I tried to scan with F-Secure Blacklight but TF said 'BAD', so suspended TF & scanned without trouble.

That is OK, I have been checking out how it works. Going to different sites and then I check the history. I shows all programs legit, so far.

You're right, in the end it depends on what I'm comfortable with. Right now, I'm not comfortable with it, which is why it's not on my computer now. But I know that I'm not always right, which is why I figured I'd ask.

I like the sound of Immunet, so will look it over very well before deciding to pass on it.

Phoenix_Rising (and anyone else that has an opinion): When I read about Immunet, it sounds like it connects to their servers/computers/system every time you go online. And then stays connected the whole time too.

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I'm not sure I like that. Wouldn't that give them the opportunity to be scanning my computer for info I don't want them to get and to track my internet usage?

Or would MSE and Malwarebytes (I have the upgrade version so it does live scanning and blocking) keep that from happening?

I like the idea of what Immunet does basically, but am concerned about privacy. I'd really like to hear your thoughts.

Or, do you think I should just go have some coffee, a brownie, and a "chill-pill"...

"Varying from the norm signature based protection, Threatfire uses a unique 'behavior based' detection system. This methodology not only helps prevent conflict and slowdowns if Threatfire is used with other security software like avast! or Avira, but it provides a whole new angle at detecting scumware on your PC. Threatfire is one of the only free anti-malware programs that provides full real time detection and protection. Other programs such as Ad-Aware AE and Spyware Doctor provide limited real time protection that are signature based, raising the chance of conflict between security programs. Threatfire has the ability to detect all kinds of scumware; however the real-time protection is only for malware while there is an on demand scanner for everything else."
