As many of you know, Sandlot gives away a free game every week. This week, it is Westward, a real-time strategy game worth $6.99 USD.
Description of the game from the website:
Enter the wild, rough and tumble world of Westward, where
adventure and untold fortune await you. Control the destiny of the West as you
build thriving towns where there once was just sagebrush. Explore uncharted
plains, dense forests, and rocky canyons as you guide your settlers to safety
and success.
To get Westward, go to http://www.sandlotgames.com/w5….._week.html
and click on the "Get it free!" button.

Up pops a little pop-up box:

Click on "Get it Free!" again. It will take you to the checkout process.

Click on "Begin Checkout" and the website forces you to log in. You may either create an account (its free) or use an existing account. I wouldn't recommend "Log in with Facebook" because that might steal your account. I don't know. Anyway, after you log-in, it takes you to the Back-Up CD page. Uncheck "Yes! Send me a back-up CD" so it says "No Back-up CD".

Hit continue checkout and check to make sure your total is $0.00.

Click "Submit Order" and it will show you a screen telling you what your activation code is:

and your download link:

Now for the easy part. Just copy the Activation Code (Ctrl+C) and download and run the installer. After it installs, run Westward. You'll see something like this:

Click on the "Already Purchased?" link under the "Buy Now" button and it will take you to this screen:

Simply place your cursor in the box and press Ctrl+V (paste). Then click unlock game. Now you have a fully registered version of "Westward". Enjoy your game. BTW, I haven't played it so what is it like?
I have a knack for using a lot of words to say a little.
This Promotion has ended. Please see the article on Tradewinds Legends.

Its no big secret that this was one of my favorite games. Now Sandlot Games is offering its sequel, Westard II: Heroes on the Frontier for free this week. Be sure to get it while it lasts.
Now that I have played it, it is a lot better than the first. The gameplay is just about the same, there is a little less reading, and the graphics got a major boost. The game now has a 3D aspect allowing you to rotate around buildings and zoom in close to your townspeople. The game has a lot more buildings to build, more quests to follow, and more pop culture references to find. The game even has a new sandbox mode which is definitely worth checking out. Westward II is definitely my favorite game of all time (until they offer Westward III and IV for free :))
