Ashraf has wriiten a fine review in the main blog – " Free O&O DriveLED 3! This app is an early warning system if hard disk is heading for a crash. This app believes in scanning & forewarning us.
It is a fine app, I've downloaded it & am getting acquainted with it.
I am providing a html link to a website which will tell you the 6 different types of sounds a crashing hard disk makes. Trust me, I neither write macabre short stories nor am I a fan of Frankenstein

This find I thought is pretty much in a class of its own, is indescribable & has a utilitarian value for software professionals & all computer users – no more no less.
The html link is http://www.thenetworkadministr…..ddrive.htm
I quote:-

6 Sounds Made by a Crashing Hard drive
Question?:
My hard drive is experiencing some strange noises, and I am unsure if the drive
is failing. How can I determine if the noises are due to a failing hard drive? Click
Here to listen to 6 sound waves made by six different crashed hard drives.

Yikes. It sounds scarier than the "Undertaker's gong sound in WWF.

OfflineYeah, kinda hard to categorise the sound an old desktop comp of mine once made right before it shuffled off the not-so-mortal coil, but it was vaguely reminiscent of a flatulent moose. Some weird long honking sound. You may think I jest, but I kid you not … it was seriously bizarre. And to cap it off, my motherboard caught on fire. I mean actually on fire … flames were coming out the side. I never knew I could hoist a computer so far as I did that day as I ran with it out to the back steps and hurled it into the yard lest the whole house go up. I took the burnt-out remains to a computer repair place, but they were stumped as to what happened. So the mystery of my flatulent burning comp remains just that: a mystery.

Hi sis!
So the motherboard caught fire huh? That sure was one "bored" mother – she just flared up. Or was it just an old flame?
I haven't heard a flatulent moose yet. Therefore I can hardly comment on that. I wouldn't mind meeting a moose. But were it to be flatulent during the meeting I'd choose to be seated as far away from it…………………… as possible
Just joking sis!

Hey there brother! I don't know what you put on your Corn Flakes each morning, but I want some!
Oh my goodness, how this has degenerated! I should have seen this going down the fart path … but what the heck. I get a giggle out of a good toot as much the next person.
But just to clarify: I, too, have never heard a moose break wind. Perhaps our Canadian or Alaskan posters are more familiar with this phenomena. But I think it would sound remarkably similar to that emitted by my now long-gone computer. It definitely wasn't like a "duck quacking". But it was decidedly animalistic. Has no one else had their computer break wind and then catch on fire? Hmmm, maybe I'm in a league of my own here ….
