Photo editing without Adobe - try Serif PhotoPlus X3 Digital Studio.Whole lot cheaper products but very good none the less.I have bought their products and continue to use them.They also do desktop publishing software and more.Suggest anyone interested look at the site http://www.serif.com/store/ Hope this helps

To be honest, I haven't used Shockwave in years. If you're using Firefox, there's an addon that might help you - MediaPlayerConnectivity.

Seriously, Adobe is probably the greatest creation software company out there, you cant just reject them because of a bad experience with some of their outdated software (no one uses shockwave anymore =P) We owe like 60% of the internet to Adobe (and 25% to Sun) because of shockwave, flash, photoshop, dreamweaver, etc.

But I too have never had Adobe offer me anything but their own software, and I had a choice then too...

Almost sounds like you got redirected to a scum-ware mirror site, where they put Norton (or what they say is norton) on your computer. And then the so called updates weren't updates, but more nastiness they wanted to install.

I trust you've run Malwarebytes or something similar since then.

Well yea, when you install photoshop (cs2) it installs other stuff like adobe bridge, image ready, and extendscript toolkit along as well. Just telling you what to expect when you do change your mind.

I agree with someguy. Good luck doing without adobe products. It IS a pretty annoying experience you had with them, but I must say I have never had them install third-party software with or without my OK.

I still don't like them a whole lot though. When I decide I want to try out Premier, that doesn't mean I want all their media players, media managers, update managers, download managers, and more installed with it. It took me FOREVER to get it all uninstalled.

So yeah, I'm not a huge fan of adobe either, even thought they make some quality software.

I know how that sucks but you said you've lost a customer adobe. Doesn't that mean you won't be able to use flash since flash is made by adobe. And not a site on the web doesn't have flash.

Today, I needed to install Adobe Shockwave player. I downloaded it and installed it, like any usual person, and when it came time to install the Norton scan, I unchecked the box. Instead, it placed a link to install on my desktop, which I deleted. Pretty normal, right?

No.

A few hours of active computing later, a window pops up: what is it? Norton Security Scan. It was downloading updates. Yes. A scanner I specifically said no to was autoupdating. And after only ~2 hours of work. So, Norton, your definitions change every two hours? Amazing. Oh! And your scanner comes bundled with Adobe Shockwave? And when someone says no to your software, that means yes? Thank you for clearing that up. You've lost one potential customer. You too, Adobe.
