True mate but the question I was asking only they know the answer to.So looks like I gotta buy a new water cooled compatible motherboard that does NOT have asus anywhere on it or the box :-))Myight be a mixed blessing anyway cos this year I am determined to but the i7 980 extreme an It would be good to get a motherboard that actuallt supports 6 core processors so guess I'll be paying abt £300 - £400 for the motherboard alone. The processor is still about £750 :-(

Hey black raven contact the manufacturer of the water cooling system. ha ha.

I'm guessing when you started dismantling their hardware they decided it was no longer their problem.

And ya their technical support needs some serious work, I'm guessing you checked out their knowlege base and/or forum for answers to absolutely nothing, which is all they have.

I bought an ASUS motherboard covered in copper cooling fins and wanted to water cool it.So off came some of the finning and then I thought, should I have done that because both the Northbridge AND the PCI-Express chip shared a bit copper heatsink.I emailed them asking about the heatsink being necessary on the PCI-Express chip and basically had to repeat this process 4 times before I gave up.Their advice in broken english was to contact the manufacturer of the water cooling system!! Surely ASUS should know more about the cooling requirements of their own motherboards than a third party water cooling kit manufacturer!!I used to think ASUS were good but 1) They don't seem to be able to communicate in english/don't have an english speaking site and 2)They don't seem to be able to provide any form of technical support!!YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WARNED/ADVISED :-)))))
