Casey this was excellent and after reading it, I got thinking that what I wanted to write was more of a critique from a players point of view.

As far are the "ugly", I am thinking more on cons/negatives of the game.

Ithink I will take you up on your suggestions. Keep me posted on the status of the site. Thanks so much for your kindness.

IMHO, game reviews are similar to regular software reviews. Of course, I'm no expert in game reviewing, but on my site, Freebie Games (http://freebiegames.webs.com – which is about to be updated to a new site), I usually focus on a few aspects of the games that I am reviewing. I narrow down the game's features into categories – usually, gameplay, graphics, and sound and give my rating on those particular features. Probably the most useful features that users and developers are looking for are the pros and cons. The users want to know whats good about the game and the developers want to know how to make it better. If you doing a review on a game, you have to include your opinion so potential players will know what the game is like. So, heres my format, which I use on Freebie Games:

About the Game:

A short description of the game and who should play it (like what genre its geared to)

Gameplay:

Essentially, what the game is. If its a hidden object, explain what that means and how this game is different or the same. I usually include the features that the developers have on their website in this section too.

Graphics:

What the game looks like. How its arranged, is it 2D or 3D, does it have cluttered interfaces, and other graphics related questions I try to answer here.

Audio:

Same as graphics except related to sound – e.g. too repetitive?

Wrapping it up:

Final comments about the game including final averaged score and (sometimes) alternative games.

This is just my format for casual games. If you intend on reviewing console games or "big" games (e.g. portal or COD), you can look at one of GameSpot's many game reviews. Here's a link to one of my default reviews:

http://freebiegames.webs.com/apps/forums/topics/show/3225018-jenkat-games-farm-frenzy-2

If you ever want to post your reviews, you can post them on Freebie Games (which hopefully will get more traffic once the new site is up and I get "exclusives") or on game developers sites. Sandlot Games allows you to post your review on their site and they sell a lot of different casual games. I'm not too sure if they'll accept an ugly.

That's about it.

I have dl some games that I would like to give feedback/evaluation on. Does any one have a template of sorts that they do not mind sharing. I want to be fair to the game developer for good part but I also want to let the use know the bad. I haven't decided if Iam going to do an ugly. I don't know if that will benefit anyone.
