Does anyone know how the GAOTD registration actually polieces the 24 hour thing? would it be possible to just disconnect from the net, change your system's time, then install

It connects to the internet and checks with their server, I believe.

Locutus is right. I think if you disconnect it won't let you proceed. However, there are very, very easy ways to get around the 24 hour restriction. (No, I am not sharing!)

I can confirm that GaOTD activator checks with the GaOTD server (by checking my outbound internet connections).

However, if the GaOTD package contains the readme.txt file with the registration key inside, you can save the regkey and download the software at a later date from the developer's site and register later.

Good info, I needed to know that so that I do not waste time trying to install immediately.

@Ebony,

FYI, if the developer is clever, he/she may disable registration of the GaOTD key after the 24-hour restriction, so you might not be able to reuse the registration info at a later date. Frown
