Geeks.com, an online retailer for 17 years, ceased mail order operations Friday August 2nd, 2013. They say their retail store is alive and well, no plans for change, etc. Is anyone else "shocked"? They were a great source of cheap hardware deals – did a couple of refurbished laptops through them, many happy customers. So sad to see them gone. Folks have missed a good one. RIP!

If they've only sold $500m worth of products in 17 years, I can see why they went out of business. Not that roughly $29m in sales per year is a small number but the retail business is brutal.

I agree, its brutal, and $30 million / year isn't enough to compete against Newegg and Amazon. But still $200 laptops,  $23 hard drives, and cheap video cards will be missed - one less in the marketplace.

Maybe you buying cheap-as-hell gadgets is why they went out of business, LOL!

Might be the reason Newegg went up on their prices lately, LOL
