@Gioneo: The NoScript addon is a hassle for me as I visit many sites that run scripts I want to use. The "Disable for this site" option does not work for me .

Also, I think Google should change it's Analytics to an "Opt-In" browser addon. More privacy on the internet!!

Just one word:

NoScript! This very very useful FF add-on has been blocking all types of scripts webpages want to load on your browser (including the google analytics!)

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Google decided to take a step forward on the sensitive matter of collecting your browsing habits... But I guess we were there first!

I recommend using the NoScript add-on since it will target all scripts, not just google's.

Oh and Thanks for the info Wheezer!

From the Google webpage:

"To provide website visitors with more choice about how their data is collected by Google Analytics, we have developed the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. The add-on communicates with the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js) to indicate that information about the

website visit should not be sent to Google Analytics."

"If you want to opt out, download and install the add-on for your current web browser. The Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on is available for Internet Explorer (versions 7 and 8), Google Chrome (4.x and higher), and Mozilla Firefox (3.5 and higher)."

The download page is at: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

My first thought was to download and install the add-on. But now I'm questioning the usefulness of it since the website owner still gets your info. So what does it matter if Google gets it too?

I'm thinking I'll see what folks have to say here and then maybe install it later.
