They've been talking about this for a long time.  The technology is there, it's just a matter of convincing everyone to adopt it.

But why? Most of us never even make use of the full capacity of USB 2.0.

This technology is intended for use with new larger disk drives such as those with capacity 2 TB. The optimal top speed for USB3.0 is 5GB/s.  <--Surprised

I think seagate, at least, is selling external drives that can take advantage of the speed. And I think you can find a few motherboards that support it. No reason to get a drive that supports it unless you are upgrading your mb soon.

yea…..thats why they were talking about the 3.0 usb….the external hd by seagate.
