I'll have to admit that I use IE for most of my browsing, I have done for years, I suppose it's just familiarity and laziness really. But I have noticed one thing in it's favour, although I have pretty fast computers, Fifefox lags a bit on initial startup whereas IE8 is instant.

Firefox can also beat IE in rendering speeds. Everything can.

I'm fairly certain some of those browsers took less time to develop than IE takes to go about its business (that's called a hyperbole).

As a firefox and opera user, I also do not understand.

Firefox has the customability that IE failed with and Opera has the speed to kill IE 8 in any rendering race. A lot of people are complacent and do not like change, and since IE has been around forever while being bundled with every Windows OS it is not surprising that IE still has a market share of more than 60%.

To be fair, IE 9 looks like it'll be good, at least in the previews (however they are probably showing off the best features).

Hey Ashraf!

Well, since I sometimes (OK...often) am 1 of the few here who has this on my OS....or uses THAT still (i.e. Hotmail)....or has such limited tech know-how skills ....etc. it should come as no surprise that...I use IE8.

Ironically...I've rarely had freezes or other probs with IE (unless I click on something & think it's not loading...& click on again...& when hitting escape or other desperate measures don't work), while my last FF (say 4 years ago) experience caused my 1st (used) computer I owned many issues---but can't say what part of my then even-more-naive-than-now knowledge of what to do to fix anything was the REAL cause---way before I knew of forums (yes--long ago.... there were no dotTechs for me to ask benign/stupid/silly questions to!)

I was just thinking about the big switch...but waiting until the issues are straitened out (like from the ongoing FF 3.6.8 forum topic here).

BTW: (1 final benign/stupid/silly, etc. question) Like.... there is a way to have multiple OS systems (long ways away for me)....so, ... can you have more than 1 browser? I guess the only reason would be to have the strengths of each to use when needed.

I am mainly a Firefox user, but I dab in other browsers like Chrome, IE, and Opera. My experience with IE always ends up being horrid, with IE freezing at least once, if not many more times. Ironcilly often times it freezes while trying to load MSN.com (if try to navigate to another site or use an IE feature from the menus before allowing MSN to fully load). I really can't understand how people manage to use IE; I try to give IE a fair chance - ignoring all the bias against it - but it really drags its own face in the mud...
