Gioneo:   Sure does sound like somethings not right in Keyscrambler. I've got it on 3 laptops and haven't had any issues at all with it.

Since it's happening on 2 computers, I wonder if it's clashing with another program you have. Are you running a lot of anti-virus programs on them? Or a specialty program that most people don't use?

Avast Pro... I'm also giving that Zentimo a test drive... I have WinPatrol Plus on there also... That's it for the progs that are constantly running in the background.

So no one using Key Scrambler is getting weird characters in a text field when their doing a search on google for example...?!

You know what, i'll bet it's conflicting with a FF add-on. I have WOT - Adblock - No Script - AFOM - FastestFox - Keyscrambler

I'll start the elimination process and see what happens.

 How's key scrambler working for you? I'm using it, but apparently it's doing too good of a job that whenever I'm typing in a text field it shows random characters! I have to try a couple of times to get the normal characters. I have it running on 2 machines and same thing.

Are you getting this too?

I'll probably have to mess with it and see what's wrong.

To your question, actually most kinds of AV + heurisitc detection software (e.g. Threatfire) can prevent this kind of hacker attack.

'Cause it lagged my computer A LOT. So much, nothing was responding and I had to hard boot a few times and uninstalled with REVO with caution. I don't know why that happened. Right now I'm using the following:

-ESET NOD32 Sh#t Loaded Edition

-Key Scrambler

-Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

BTW, the reason why my ESET is called "Sh#t Loaded Edition" is because everything is password protected and I can't edit any layouts at all, including unquarantining things. It sucks... :(

I was fortunate to acquire Zemana anti-keylogger on a special freebie offer--now expired--& we've had forum discussions here on that.

I found some comparison info on:

Can't vouche for these sites, & a quick glance looks like all paid.

I also grabbed the Zemana anti-keylogger freebie and used it for a spell. Very light and non-intrusive. Yeah too bad that deal expired.

I personally just run MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) and Windows Defender (built-in to Win7 and I think Vista) and the default Windows firewall. Along with an occasional manual scan by Malwarebytes.

I think there are reasonable precautions to take, and a point where too many either make your computer so slow that it's not worth it or you just get too paranoid to use the computer.

That being said, one way to be safer is to use a Mac. Not because Macs are inherently safer, but because there are fewer of them, they make a less tempting target for hackers. Another choice is to boot off of a Linux Live CD.

I agree. I also rely on the default windows firewall and defender that comes with Win 7 (vista also). Apparently Microsoft has made alot of improvements to them. Before I used to hate having to deal with UAC, but now I just leave it enabled (extra protection), and like karen mentioned the occasional scan with malwarebytes.

And along with them I use Avast Pro. So I guess if you are also using a decent and safe browser (Firefox with some nice security addons! for example) your web experience should be safe enough...
