@ amnesia: I've been using A2 as my dedicated AV for a couple of years now (something like that, anyway). A2 from Emisoft is not a newcomer - it has been around for a number of years now and has consistently come out in the top (if not the top) of the AV tests. It is one of the leaders in the field and is a well-regarded program. Personally, I wouldn't be without it.

I just wanted to see how it ran without a AV running as well. Are there many others running it as a dedicated AV, for how long, and any problems? Also how long has A2 been "mainstream"?

I don't know how long I'll keep it like this. Is there any other testing been done on it?

I guess if your going to run it as a "sidekick", you may as well just install the free version?

A2 actually is not really a "sidekick" anymore you are right. I just like to refer to as such because 1) traditionally it has always been "sidekick" and 2) the free one is more "sidekick" than "mainstream".

However Emisoft claims A2 can work well together with other software so... ya.

I think I figure it out now. A2 Pro is NOT sidekick, that's why this A2 always detect what my Avira said was viruses. Both of them slowing down my CPU when I open my installer programs in ext. drive (There are more than 400 apps inside). So it is clear now. What's gonna happen when two Mainstrem or Anti Viruses (or whatever they name it) run in the same time with live protection on? I think everybody can see the answer..

Windows firewall should work for you just fine. Windows firewall (Vista and Win7) isn't as bad as people make it sound out to be.

Well, at least one thing that I noticed was slowing down my performance ( not the CPU). Extra work to do when all of them find out my priceless viruses or malwares in the same time. Wow, they will fight each other just to claim the founder.

@ Steelers6: You might want to check out Windows 7 Firewall Control (http://www.sphinx-soft.com/Vis......rder.html). It was designed to do what the Windows built-in firewall didn't. It can be used for Vista as well. There is a free and paid version available. It's definitely worth checking out.
