That’s a really good deal you found, Ashraf.

Especially for an “entry level.” Its specs are similar to my 17” Toshiba Satellite (my 1st laptop & only 2nd computer), I paid about $700, after a bunch of rebates, & actually has twice the Hard Drive.... (& to upgrade from Vista to 7 right now is at least $100-150).

Just 1 (hopefully not dumb) question: Aren’t most, if not all, new screens “Backlit”?

This looks almost identical to my Compaq laptop. I wonder, how would they profit from giving us $100 for our old computers? Or an even better question, what exactly do they do with these old computers? Good deal though.

On the Staples website it says the price in the store is $499.98.
However, the price in the story is $499.98 - instant savings of $70 =
$429.98 - $100 for turning in an old computer - $50 off computers (today
and tomorrow only) = $279.98 + $16.80 tax (6% in Michigan) = $296.78 -
$50 HP mail in rebate = $246.78 AR! (OR $346.78 if you don't have an
old computer to trade in.)

The laptop is only entry level, but it has terrific specs for the low price. Anyone looking for a new laptop should jump on this.

*Note that the old computer you trade in must be Windows XP or higher and must be able to boot up.
