OfflineI recently tried to install a program and got this error message
EXE – System Error
The program can't start because VB40032.DLL is missing from
your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
OK

I located and dl the file but have no idea where to copy/install it to.

OfflineHere's some instructions on what to do with the error message you are getting.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/vb40032-dll-not-found-missing-error.htm
Hope it helps.
OfflineFurther to my msg above, the reason for providing that link is that it isn't always a good thing to locate and dl any dll file from the net, unless you are absolutely certain the site is trustworthy, or that the file you are downloading isn't corrupt or out of date.
Your original file was probably corrupt. If you are certain that the file you dl isn't corrupt then it should be installed your Windows system folder. If you're using Win 7 then it probably should go into the system32 folder, I'm not absolutely certain about that, but maybe someone else can verify that.

Mags' link looks good to me. Amongst the comprehensive list, it includes:
"7. Run the sfc /scannow System File Checker command to replace a missing or corrupt copy of the vb40032.dll file. If this DLL file is provided my Microsoft, the System File Checker tool should restore it."
If your "VB40032.DLL" is a system file, then this a SAFE way to repair or replace it. My Win 7 (64) doesn't have such a file, but that doesn't prove anything.
I have posted earlier today on how to use the System File Checker on: http://dottech.org/forums/advice-corner/a-free-program-that-can-check-all-files-for-any-that-are-corrupted/#p15986. See comment #2.

Thank you both for your excellent suggestions.
I used Everything and searched for this VB file. It did not find any instance of it on my computer.
As the error message stated Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. But to no avail.
I located the file on other sites, but they all pointed to the same dl site.
I emailed the developer and advised of error message. (No response yet)
It has been my experience in the past, if a program required a file in order for it to run, it was either included or you were told where to find it and how to install it.
At this point, I have abandon the program.
At least I have learned something from the kind responses.

Discover that DLL file on the internet and download it… Copy it to the suitable directory or you can furthermore ask someone having portal 2 to send you that DLL file..

Thanks for responding.
As to "Discovering the file on the internet" it is like Mags stated above… "it isn't always a good thing to locate and dl any dll file from the net, unless you are absolutely certain the site is trustworthy, or that the file you are downloading isn't corrupt or out of date."
As to a suitable directory….define suitable….ROFL
What I am saying is, if I dl a program, I don't expect to have to spend time fixing it up to make it do what it says it is suppose to do. Am I expecting too much?
