OfflineSomething funny happened that has me worried: I did a defrag and (all?) my MTF files seem to have disappeared (maybe?)…..
My standard pre-defrag cleaner is CCLeaner and my standard defragger is/was Piriform's Defraggler. Since I had such good results with Auslogics Disk Defragger after trying it out, I wanted to do a comparison test. I did the usual cleaning with CC and a couple of others I used to use. All the settings on all the apps were as always (I went back and checked that). I Defragged a few times with Defraggler to get rid of all the fragments, and my MTF files, which usually take up a lot of space, seem to have disappeared! Three, and then later only two, MTF squares remained, but if you mouseover those squares, it says they contain no files. Then I analyzed for defrag with Auslogics. It shows a goodly amount of MTF files (although a lot fewer than before)! Why aren't these files showing up on Defraggler? And why are they so much fewer than before? All this applies to my C: disk, which is NTSC (I used to have 2KPRO). I thought the MTF files were very important, so this has me worried…..
Additional info:
1. I have XP Pro SP2.
2. My OE6 asked if I would like to compact. Since I hadn't done it in a long time, and the computer has asked me a few times, I figured it was time to do it. So it did it. That always puts a HUGE amount of MB's in the Recycle Bin, so I cleared it. That's what prompted me to do a serious defrag.
3. So then I did the general cleanups and then the defrags.
What's the story here..?
Thanks for any help!
Janet
PS In the Auslogics analysis, the MTF files are no longer together--they always used to be…
