My PC had to be rebuild following a power failure which blew the motherboard, the RAM and the primary HDD. I have cobbled together a temp’ replacement using an old Packard Bell 2.2Ghz processor, 1.5Gb RAM and with 2 x SATA drives. This did have an old 80Gb IDE drive (with XP pro on it) as the primary drive and it was working as a dual boot machine fine. However, when I removed the IDE drive and replaced it with a 2nd SATA drive it keeps suddenly shutting itself down and going into sleep mode (but won’t wake with any key press or mouse movement) and has to be turned off at the PSU. I’ve turned the power setting to Never Turn Off for both the PC and monitor but no change.

Has anyone any ideas please?
