Ah, sorry, I understood that wrong. Yea, for me at least, they do act like startup programs. They are reffered to as BHO's (Browser Help Objects) and need to be loaded (read: Started, taking my patience) everytime the browser opens. Little ... (I can't say what I want to say, Mr. Boss will kill me)

As for tick then untick, that would be the best way to do it, then you could moderate the ones you need. But just use firefox and it's addins :p

It is funny how communication can get lost.

I was not trying to advise you, I was asking you a question. I am sure you know eons more than I do about the techie stuff.

But none the less, you answered my question when you said "they" (toolbars) add wait time. Something like start up programs. Right?

And then my other point was how to best use the toolbar, open toolbar when need and unticked when done. Right?

I too have a fast quad core and a boat load of memory. (that is the only way I know how to describe it) So I do not experience "slow loads"

I got AnVir, thanks to someone who posted a response to a question I had.

In regards to the toolbars, say you have several ticked to load when you open your browser, isn't that the same as having start up programs (in a sense)?

Would it be better to just us the tool bar when you need it and then un-tick when finished?

With all the people complaining about the load on their computers, go have a look at task manager. see all those open processes that are eating your memory? Get AnVir task manager, and it will show you all of those processes and more, and what files are it's base, and you can cull the one's you don't need.

Toolbars the problem? It also helps to remove them.

Too many start up programs? it can help with that, it even tells you what are system startups, and what are startups from your account.

I also reccomend getting winutilities plus from here at dottech, it really helps to manage and keep your computer optimal.

@ Taz: Just remember that AFOM is solely for FF, while MemoryFox is for other progs as well. I would recommend just going with AFOM and not MemoryFox, although others may disagree.

MemoryFox works just fine for me – it has been keeping memory usage under control for quite a while now. I did have something else on before but had problems so uninstalled (and now totally forgotten what it was sorry.)

Will take a look at this AFOM and give it a try also (on my Vista Home OS), as Ashraf advises there are no conflicts to worry about – let's hope not.

Edit : AFOM recovers Memory Leakage within a running instance of the Firefox
browser application.
Note: ( Windows Only ) - maybe that's why I didn't use it.?

I too have multiple tabs open simultaneously, as well as 60+ add-ons, but do not experience the excruciating shut-down times reported @Taz above.

Still, wish start-up would be quicker – haven't timed it, but sometimes seems to take 2 ~ 3 mins. but mostly within 30s.
