OfflineJust a quick post to thank MikeR for his recommendation (albeit a little while ago) of MyDefrag (http://www.mydefrag.com/). It is a fantastic defrag program! Kudos to the developer! I downloaded it a while back after reading Mike's comments on it, but hadn't installed it. Yesterday I did, and ran it. My laptop is now purring like a kitten. The interface might not win any prizes, but its performance is top notch … and that's what counts at the end of the day. I'll take substance over style any day. So thanks Mike! Anyone who hasn't tried it should definitely give it a go. It's a little beaut!
Offline@ Gvape: Sorry – I just remembered MikeR's recommendation. I see that you can also get O&O Defrag 10 Professional Edition for free at http://www.oo-software.com/home/de/special/computerbild-defrag/
I'll stick with MyDefrag, but others might be interested …
OfflineAnother word of thanks for MyDefrag! One of my computers, which runs XP, was used in conjunction with someone who is not well-skilled at file management. Goodness, what a nice way to put it, which is not to say that I'm any prize in that category, but there are, you know, basic concepts, right? Anyway, it is an unholy mess and shall remain ever thus. My Defrag churned away for a couple of hours, and the difference is quite noticeable even though I make a point to run a variety of mantainence operations on a regular basis.
