I checked the code of "let me google that for you". In javascript file "bundle.js" VanillaResults.com. On this page search engine code is present. Overall it is not harm ful. It is the way to increatse the traffic of VanillaResults.com. It is just showing the results (of google) via this site.

Any way thanks for providing a clean script of VanillaResults.co.

It's all explained there... if it wasn't back in March, accept my apologies. Maybe some conspirator added the explanation on the site.

know, however, is that VanillaResults.com makes use of Google' "Custom Engine", so every advertisement on Google.com clicked on earns the owners of VanillaResults/LMGTFY some revenue (similar to how dotTech's search - see search box at the top - is).

Does that mean if we were comitted to helping you, we could sit there for an hour googling stuff through that box, to make you money?

That's a good possibility, though I would think it would be more efficient to fix the errors on the original than make a whole new site to do the same thing.  Again that's just my opinion. 

 

I'm not all that knowledgable on click tracking.   However......Seems that having two (or more) sites tracking in that way or for that reason would also cause a great deal of inaccuracies and be unreliable information.

At least in the way of them making more money in this way.  If they own both companies and then redirect to themselves through users search inputs.....seems to me that's no different.

It sounds like they're getting double the amount per search (maybe more) if they own both and are one in the same.  That's just my opinion though.

On the opposite side....they may very well have a legitimate excuse or reason for redirecting to another one of their sites that they own....maybe....

Nope I can't think of a valid reason or excuse off hand. 

Sounds to me that they've just found a way to double what revenue they get that most users wouldn't see or realize.
