OfflinePARETO: An Asp in the Giveaway Basket?
Some long time ago, I downloaded a GOTD freebie called "Pareto Logic FileCure". I installed it, and found that it was not to-my-purposes, so uninstalled with my free/trial favored Revo Uninstaller, and forgot about FileCure.
The snows fell and the crocuses pushed their noses through the crust. The geese flew North and pretty soon they flew South again.
One dark night while I was watching a DVD on my free & favored VLC Videolan, a notice popped-up:-- there was a connection problem with Pareto Logic. Had I not uninstalled that long ago? I made a note of that, and went-back-to the movie.
Next day, I used the Search on my Vista, trying to find Pareto or his/her FileCure. Search could not come-up-with anything.
A normal google search offered nothing new.
Fortunately, I use google's free and (for me) indispensble Desktop. This magnificent device google-izes all my files, and all my internet traffic. I quickly found the original download page.
I was able to find a folder with a subfolder, and four files, one of them .exe; and one with a coded name beginning with U…. (I regret I did not keep a note). I deleted these files, and emptied the trash, and thought that I had killed Pareto. But no….
I continue to get (not so often as to be troublesome) a note from Pareto, hiding somewhere in my system, that he cannot find his files. Or is he hiding elsewhere in the cloud, trying to enter my files?
Whatever the reason may be, there is no doubt that Pareto is smart enough to avoid a Vista Search, but could not avade the Google.

OfflineHi jivadas,
Look in C:\WINDOWS\Tasks, you may find these two files there:
- FileCure Default.job
- FileCure Startup.job
Delete job in Control Panel.
Also, look in C:\Program Files\Common Files. You may find subfolder UUUS3 and UUUS3.dll file. Delete them.
If you are interested in all changes that FileCure installation makes in File-system and Registry, you can download this file: Paretologic FileCure - Changes.txt from http://www.sendspace.com/file/6qumq5. It may help you to find some leftovers in your System.
