What I was talking about for my site is when I hold giveaways and stuff I can't track spam and multiple submissions on one IP. So its hard to keep comments under control. Either I delete them myself (too troublesome) or due to my experience, disqualify people I have suspicion on......

Blogger's default comment system requires multiple extra clicks just to enter username. The one I'm using now is IntenseDebate, which is adequate but still not as good as Wordpress I think. 

 

And probably just like you, using Wordpress is not an option because I'm too cheap to get paid hosting. I don't trust the free ones out there either (like 000webhost).
