Offline@jivadas: Thank you for the suggestion. I totally understand your point. Currently, however, dotTech does not have the capability to filter out comments although I may add it in the future if I can find a way how (I am not a professional programmer so it will be a bit hard for me). No promises, though.

Hey – dotTech is a free forum – as long as the posts don't annoy most members, they can be posted.
I can understand their (jivadas) point……………but,….like Adrian, I think that this forum, while unique, is like others where there may be many comments that are helpful & many that are just like a check-in, with a few words(HI…I agree….that's nice, etc.); other posts are very involved & highly technical, & we also just have plain ol' fun. We get along quite well here, & can tolerate the wide diversity of styles & opinions. But what you won't find but rarely here, is character judgments & name-calling, etc., like some other forums I visit.
IMHO, when someone starts a new job, or comes to a new forum, without getting to know others & let others give & receive feedback, the 1st thing to do seems not to say how things need to be changed: “You should find a better way,……" and “you should be able to delete the trivial (thanx, &c)…" The writer SHOULD choose their words carefully, as a few definitions of trivial, are: unimportant, inconsequential, insignificant, trifling, petty
That last part "delete the trivial"….implies that the writer KNOWS what is or is not trivial……..& that is making a judgment of others value of their worth in commenting.
Again IMHO, that is pretty presumptuous…it also implies that the writer is “better than others,” & they must NOT consider their own content as trivial—otherwise, according to their own criteria—we SHOULD delete their comment.
Touché.

BTW: Is this the 'original' Happy Person from GOTD??
If so, welcome (the 'original' Happy Person will know what i'm referring to!)
If not, welcome anyway.

@Al: I think he is the HappyPerson from GOTD, i.e. Inas. Could there really could have been such a coincidence?
Hey Adrian (spelled correctly)
When HappyPerson replies here…
they "will know what i'm referring to!"
[hint.......someoone else tried to copy/paste HappyPerson comments as their own this past summer on GOTD............AND.......there was an imposter using HappyPerson as an ID too...it got to be ...........really stoooopid for a while...

OfflineHappy Person said: …. @yourpalal, @Adrian – yes, it is me, the one and only (original and irreplaceable) Happy Person (from the GOTD site) – by the way, I am a female, just to be clear about this fact – LOL! – and thank you again for your warm welcome – that is very nice indeed!
Best,
Inas
Hey Happy Person (or would you rather be addressed as Inas???)
Glad to have you here!
I've been active on dotTech since last August; as you may be able to surmise by the fact that I have a few # of posts during that time. I've pretty much quit commenting on GOTD, & usually only glance at their site. There are still several good & helpful people there, as well as newer ones, but it got old seeing others attacked & berated & hated
on a regular basis, especially Ashraf—which brings out Ashraf supporters who defend his thoughtful, educational & helpful comments (that's how I ended up here), but can also bring out jealous counter-attacks at the supporters, etc., etc.,……..such a pity & a waste of human effort.
You are one of the few (like Mike,…& of course Ashraf!) who consistently try to be of assistance to others, & after a few unnecessary jabs at you too, it made me angry that good people quit commenting there & are pushed away by the haters & ignorant ranters
(you were missed after that fiasco, but later saw you came back).
So I'm encouraged to see you participate here—almost all members are appreciative & supportive, & we actually have a good amount of fun & humor
too!
BTW: I should have never assumed that you were male on GOTD, but if I did, I will (hopefully) remember that from now on!
@yourpalal - I agree with you 100% – I also got turned off by all the negativity on the GOTD site – in fact, these days it has become so ridiculous, that some people actually believe that Ashraf and I are the same person – well, if they only knew how unrealistic that is – as I am female and Ashraf is male -LOL!
…and you're right – the constant bashing – very sad indeed.
And that is why I chose to be an active member of this fine DotTech family.
Well, that's my story, and I'm stickin' with it – so Ciao for now,
Inas – AKA Happy Person

OfflineHey all!
Ain't we havin' fun here!!
The comments have been great & positive.
BTW: Seems jivadas hasn't posted here since their original criticism of our site--maybe it has dawned on them to JOIN with us here 1st, then see how we get along.
That's what was meant by getting to know us: if you start out the 1st day at a job criticizing, where do you go from there?
