Offline@Wheezer: Found a site to make that smiley here. But when I see it in the forum it's blocked by an image of an acorn like this:

Is that what you see also? It displays fine on my computer, so I'm guessing the site I used to create it has some sort of code to add the acorn if it's used on the Internet??? Now you know why I changed my avitar to:

I'll try it again and see if I get the same result:

Well….
I'm confused
. It displays fine right now. Guess I'll see what happens when I save tis post.

Offline@Taz: I see the acorn on every image or .gif that is put in the text area of any post on dotTech. I've always thought it's one of those things that just is and will always be. No way around it.
On the upside, when I click on the acorn the pic or .gif gets bigger and I can see the whole thing.
OfflineWait a minute, I was wrong. I don't see an acorn on your smashing head .gif in your post. Hmmm, I wonder if the size of the pic or .gif we upload has something to do with whether or not the acorn shows up.

OfflineWow, that's really little. Gonna have to mess around and see if I can get it big enough not to need the mouse thing and a microscope to see it.
OfflineI tried Faststone resizer but that didn't work.
Anybody know how to change the size of an animated .gif?

It's not a acorn, it's a mouse (computer mouse that is). It's there to indicate that you can click on it to see a bigger version.
@ Karen: I don't know, that doesn't look like my mouse:

(BTW, this is a picture of the actual first prototype mouse built by Douglas
Engelbart in 1965!)
Gosh, aren't us Old Farts just full of Fun Little Facts – or maybe we're full of something else!

Offline@Locutus: If you're asking about the smiley painting his name, take a look at post #41 at the top of this page. I had asked the same question and Taz was kind enough to provied a link.
There's a couple other things you can play with at that site for free too. It's kind of a fun site to look around in.

@ Wheezer: You can resize them on that same sight here. Let's see how it works on yours:

Yep, it worked pretty good. Maybe lost a little resolution.
Did some searches – found many wesites that will do an online conversion, but not a lot of other options. Found one freeware program here. Downloaded and tried it. Here's the result:

Not bad. Resolution is better, letters look great, but the smiley is kinda blurry.
Also saw a recommendation for Gimp. It's a GNU program available on Source Forge here. I dowloaded it, but don't have time right now to check it out.
BTW, I really like the smoking monkey! Reminds me of George Burns
.

Now THERE was an Old Fart!!
Take Care

Offline@ Locutus: Great! I'll check it out, probably tomorrow.
BTW I signed up at your site I think it was yesterday (there goes that damn Alzeimers again
). Anyway I'll try to peruse over there as often as I can.
Too be honest, I already spend too much time downloading GOTD, reading Ashraf's reviews and getting off on tangents. The whole day blows by sometimes before I know it. But I will get over there – looks like you got some interesting stuff!
