Yep, they have an animation.

i guess it is unavoidable. if you take a look at engadget blog, it happens to be the same there. unless the blog software or its plug-in improves, you can see nothing better.

It really isn't an issue with software/plug-in. The plug-in used to display the images work very well. The issue is inherent with resizing different sized images into a common size to display on the front page. It is unavoidable.

Including the picture of the person with her eyes and half her nose cut off? That's a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

Oh is that what you are referring to? It is supposed to be that way -- a crop of the images. Working as intended. xD

Ashraf,

I'm replying here so that I can include a screenshot, to show what I mean.

Above is a picture of the upper section of the DotTech home page, showing the previews of articles.

1) Cell phone tracking: the image of the crime scene tape is effective.

2) Windows evolution: all I see is a glimpse of Windows 1, and what appear to be two blank screens.

3) Adobe Flash bug: I guess that's the logo for Flash. But the text obscures it, and the top is cut off. Now we're getting the "barber" effect.

4) Welcome to dotTech 4: Look out, the mad barber is on a rampage! It's a case of slash everything in sight, leaving nothing intact.

I suspect these preview pics are done automatically by whatever website program you're using. My suggestion: either crop the preview pics by hand, or leave them out altogether. While the rest of the website does indeed look professional, as many others have written, the first thing one sees on the home page can make one wonder what's going on.

Best wishes,

Bruce.
