@Ashraf and DotTech Admins – I am unsure whether or not this suggestion is feasible - but it would be nice if there were a way by which users can easily find all forum messages addressed to him or her – that way, it would be efficient and quick for the user to respond to other DotTech members' inquiries – instead of having to wade through a mountain of thread posts.
This search could be done similar to the Outlook Search – where we could locate forum messages via "key word," "user name," "subject," "date sent or received," etc.
Is this doable, or am I dreaming about things that are not possible? LOL!
Thanks,
Inas

Um, why can't this already be done with the current search function? I don't understand.
@Ashraf, I just now did a "search" using the term "Adrian," as an example. All of Adrian's posts and comments came up, but (as I mentioned before) the results are not comments explicitly directed/adressed to me.
In other words, my suggestion still stands – I am asking if DotTech could implement a "refined" search function that would yield only those specific comments directed by one user to another user.
The current search function (when I tried it just now) does not do this – it's somewhat general and generic, unless I am missing something, and do not know how to do the search correctly. If so, please provide guidance for this.
I hope this clarification of what I mean to convey is helpful.
Thanks,
Inas
Oh wait! I said something wrong
When you click "Quote and Reply" on a post, the "Reply to Topic" box will show up and read
XXX said:
What that person said.
I noticed that when one's display name changes, e.g. from "Happy Person" to "Inas", every "Happy Person said:" that was generated from the above method in the forums changed to "Inas said:". Which means that the "XXX said" line is actually a variable that is designated to be the person you are replying to.
So, if you reply using the "Quote and Reply" function, the forums can be modified so that the forum program will know who you are replying to!
[Hey if your brain hurts after reading the above, yell out. I'll make further explanation on the subject.]
OfflineOkay, here's the explanation.
You know maths?
Now let x be a person that you are replying to on the forums.
You click "Quote and Reply" above his/her post, and the reply to topic box shows up and reads:
x said:
Blah blah blah…
And x can be any user's display name, e.g. "Adrian" or "Inas".
So instead of x being fixed as "Adrian" or "Inas", it sticks to the person's display name.
So if I change my display name from "Adrian" to "King Adrian"
for example, the x variable in the "x said" would be changed accordingly from "Adrian" to "King Adrian" and the post would read
King Adrian said:
Blah blah blah…
Understand?
