OfflineNot sure if this idea will fly or not, but I'm going to give it a try anyway.
I'm trying to edit the ID Locutus gave me using the .xcf image.
I've got the Layers window open and have selected the layer that has my avatar on it. I see the little dashed line around the edge of my avatar.
What I want to do is change the size a little. But I can't seem to find how to do that. I've been looking all over the place, and clicking on the Help option doesn't do anything, no help at all.
Can ya point me in the right direction?
OfflineCool, thanks Locutus. I got the avatar resized.
But then I started wondering what would happen if I re-sized my avatar (the original that I have saved in a file, not the one on the ID) to make it bigger than needed. Then put that on the ID and size it there to fill the area I want it to. I'm hoping that will result in a clearer image on the ID.
The thing I can't find now is how to get my larger avatar onto a new layer. I found the button to make a new layer, but the little box that pops up doesn't say anything about importing an image.
OfflineThat worked. Again, thank you.
Tada…

I'm not sure that putting the new image on there made much of a difference, but I'm telling myself it did anyway.
As a side thought. Maybe if this thread keeps going, you'll be able to copy & paste, and end up with an article for Cogizio. ???
OfflineNext I have 2 questions for you. But there's no hurry for getting an answer, if you choose to answer at all. I don't have anything I'm working on right now, but may sometime soon.
How did you end up making the card shape, with the rounded corners?
and,
and,,
Oh crud. I forgot the other question.
So I guess that's it for now.
I've got to run off and do some stuff, I'll check back later tho.
Have a good evening everybody!

Why is your name in quotes? I don't like that.
To get rounded rectangles, select your layer. Then, select your whole avatar. Go to Select>Rounded Rectangles and set it to ~15. Click OK, go to Select>Invert, and hit the delete key.
OfflineI used the quotation marks to make it clear that Wheezer is a nickname type thing. I'm only about 85% sure that's actually a proper use for them tho. So I could be wrong.
While one would hope that people would know that Wheezer is a nickname, or username in this case. We should remember that one set of parents legally named their son Moon Unit (Zappa).
So ya never know.
And now that you got me thinking about it and looking at the ID again, I'm not sure I like the quotation marks any more. They might have to go.
I sure am glad somebody taught me how to change it!

Ya & the other weird child name from the late maestro of bizarre music Frank Zappa, was Dweezil Zappa (born Ian Donald Calvin Euclid Zappa; September 5, 1969)
Hey Wheezer—ya related to………….. Dweezil????

Also, another lovely name: Engelbert Humperdinck
OfflineLocutus: That is a funny site. Altho 2 of the examples seemed to suggest that using quotation marks to signal a nickname is correct.
But wanting a clearer explaination, I went to Wikipedia. Which lead to even more confusion. It left me feeling like any time you want to use them for any reason, it's ok.
A couple lines that stuck out tho are : "Quotation marks are also used to indicate that the writer realizes that a
word is not being used in its current commonly accepted sense."
and,
"Quotation marks can also offset a nickname", unfortunately the sentace goes on to say "embedded in an actual name, or a false or ironic title embedded in an actual title; for
example, Nat “King” Cole, Miles “Tails” Prower,
or John “Hannibal” Smith." But still, the nickname is in quotes.
So I'm not sure if I'll take them out or not. Time will tell.
yourpalal: Me and Dweez, we be buds…
OfflineYeah, I'm leaning heavily toward getting rid of them. I just haven't had time yet, because I'm having too much fun with the Guru Teacher stuff.
By the way, looks like I'm gonna end up using what you've taught me about GIMP to make baseball type cards for some of our department members that are going to be playing in a softball game against ex-MLB players here on May 23rd. I'm going to put the cards in an article I'm writing for our department blog.

Good luck :P (We seriously need a :P emote…)
OfflineSo what does ":P" stand for? I've always guessed it means something about a snicker or laugh, but I'm not sure.
Update: I found out what it means. From Wikipedia:
tongue sticking out, cheeky/playful, blowing a raspberry
(hey, check my post counter. I'm catching up! Yeah, right… Lol)
