For those of us that need to use a large DPI setting (my visual impairment requires that I use a DPI setting of 150%), the issue of shifting font sizing has been solved! It was suggested to me by Nikos (author of the file manager program Xplorer2) that an undocumented compatibility setting was the answer; testing has borne this out.

The Solution: right-click on a program’s desktop icon and select Properties, then select the Compatibility tab. Once there, do the following:
1) Check the Run in program compatibility mode box, and from its drop-down menu select Windows 7.
2) Check the box in front of the line that reads Disable display scaling on high DPI settings.
3) Check the box in front of the line that reads Run as an administrator.
4) Click “Apply” (on the bottom row of buttons).
5) Click Apply to all users box.
6) repeat these same settings for all Users.
7) Click “Apply” (on the bottom row of buttons).
8) Click “OK” & “OK”.

I have successfully used this technique in Thunderbird (email program), my 3rd-party file manager (Xplorer2) and Firefox in order to maintain the font size I set them to.

Unfortunately, you have to do this individually for each mis-behaving application, and the settings don’t always hold, but its the best, and to date only, work-around I’ve found to the problem.

They allow pretty much any file type up to 2GB and you can upload 5 files at a time. It is only like a painless 2 click process to get to the actual download link and no account is required to upload or download. They are browser based but also support remote upload and appear to have a new desktop client I haven't used.

I usually use them as a cheap trick to get around sites that don't allow download resuming as I have a horribly slow connection. I just remote upload the file to them and finish the unresumable download from their servers.

HaHa! I just realized this thread was 3 years old. Oh well.

Tst tst, Ashraf. Ye of little faith! I believe it to have been a genuine post from a massively helpful individual who went to a lot of time and trouble in order to furnish dot tech with information of vital importance.

Purely by coincidence, I have just received by international bank transfer the sum of $10,000 from Aiseesoft, China. This has in no way affected my opinion of that developer, and so I shall continue to say it is the finest software house in the entire universe and that the several thousand unbiased objective posts it causes to be sent out to Internet forums every day is evidence only of a corporate desire to make the world a better place for all.

I thought this might be a discount promotion for this $66.75 product. It isn't. It looks more like hype frtom a newly registered 'member' with no interest in dot tech other than to use it in an attempt to sucker others in. On which basis, there's much more useful information about what is available -- much of it for absolutely nothing -- on community websites like videohelp and after dawn:

http://www.videohelp.com/

http://forums.afterdawn.com/

Time and again, simplistic over-priced commercial software with minimal user control and Open Source engines under the hood proves itself unequal to the original work of original developers who look to donations or even provide their work free of charge.

As for this post, Aiseesoft is notorious for spamming Internet forums. This OP looks to be no different than any other gimmick deplpoyed by this particular Chinese developer -- one glance at past giveaways of the day involving Aiseesoft is enough to see how it absolutely packs out 'user comments' with fake (and illiterate) endorsements as well as thumb-vote manipulation.

The best way to "solve issues" where Aiseesoft is concerned would seem to be to keep your computer clear of Aiseesoft products in the first place.

3. Type:

4. Use the other machine

5. Open Windows Explorer

6. Click Network (on the left)

9. Open the (Name) folder (you now have access to another machine's folders and files)

The above thread is definetly my fvorite article on dottech.org, it's something I go back to reference from time to time. Hopefully some new software, can make the list to replace some older ones, if theya re better that is.
