Does look exactly like spam, doesn’t it? There’s so much of that stuff around nowadays, it’s no wonder people are wary.

As for this so-called amazing freeware downloader: why bother with it at all?

Ever since Eagleget appeared, umpteen “video downloaders”, paid-for and free, have vanished from the marketplace, rendered obsolete by a freeware app that’s light, fast, regularly updated, doesn’t require anyone to moronically “like” it on Facebook and doesn’t have an affiliates program that would encourage — for example — someone to start spamming tech forums with phony product endorsements.   Eagleget. Just Google it.

No idea if it’s “crapware” or not. But it sure is a crap way of trying to sell anything: get caught out once, as in this instance, and future custom for any other product from the same developer is automatically lost.

Spammers by virtue of the sad little lives they lead are usually illiterate and certainly, delusional. Typically, they never seem to be able to speak, only to declaim — hence the number of exclamation marks that bedeck their posts. Couple this topic ! with the fact that the spammer was newly registered ! and that’s as good a sign as any that yet another incompetent fraudster has dropped by Dot Tech while meandering lost and forlorn around the ‘Net.

As to Ashraf not catching this particular example: no prob — you can’t monitor every post, every topic and every contribution. Besides. . . it’s always enjoyable when the Law of Unintended Consequences kicks in, as here: a fraudulent post serving to facilitate a mention of the very software that’s putting the spammer’s hoped-for income provider out of business! Wot fun! SUPERB!! Oh, and here’s another !, too. Oooh. I do so like being an undetectable spammer scammer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laugh
