I'd much prefer a real book over an e-book or a PDF. The feel is a nice touch to reading a real book. I just don't really like scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling, and so on just to read a certain part of something.

Readers are nice and all, but I don't think they will truly replace books. Just like newsites have not truly replaced newspapers yet.

I think I will always be checking in at the book stores and buying them.

Although I like printed books and having them in my private library, I can see the benefit of the reader and don't mind to use it for certain types/genres of reading or on the go. People who don't care the physical feel of books may be happy to switch to the reader as it is convenient, cheaper (once you own the reader) and takes less space in your room. So I guess calling the girl "Nuts" may be a little extreme. I just hope both options will stay in my lifetime.

I too, enjoy the "old fashioned" way of reading a book, but can easily foresee the number of people using electronic readers going way up. I doubt reading an actual book will ever completely go away though. Just look at how many people there are that still have and play records vs digital music.

Like it sounds like reading is for you, in my life I love bow hunting for deer. It doesn't matter if I actually shoot a deer, it's the year long effort that goes into figuring out where the deer are, where I should be to maximize my chances of being where the "big one" is, why the deer are where they are, all that kind of stuff. I truly enjoy being out in the woods observing all the little worlds that take place out there at the same time.

Yet I know many people that love to spend their time playing hunting games on a computer or a game console. I've tried the games, they get boring after a few minutes.

I guess it all comes down to personal choice. "To each their own" seems to be an old saying that comes into play here.

I look at it like this, the more people there are playing those hunting games, the fewer people there are out in the woods trying to shoot the same big buck I hope to shoot.

I'm sure that physical books will always be around for those of us that prefer to read that way. If the rest of the world wants to use electronic readers, let them. Who cares?

Ok this past holiday, one of my little rug rats wanted a reader for a gift.So like a true parent I went down to my local Barnes & Noble to check them out. not that I needed an excuse to hit my favorite store, so i'm looking at this new device and i looked up thinking I'm standing there surrounded by a world of wealth in print.I'm one of the people who just loves to read the smell and feel of a new book. having a book sitting in my case looking down on my desk, it's there in it's nice binder adding color to my space. it's there like an old friend sitting there just waiting for the day that i'll pick it up and read it again.

Now I'm looking at this gadget tan in color boring and cold.when the clerk comes up to me and she says in a soft voice it's the wave of the future. in 5 years people will not be reading books anymore. Oh ? you think? yes she says. Nuts! you dear are Nuts! I guess she was offended because she called the manager and he comes over to me asking Sir what is the problem here? no problem but your worker here seems to think that in five years time books will be a thing of the past, so i told her nuts.

In a nutshell books will not be replaced by a reader. not in five years or ten. for people who truly love to read there is nothing like holding a real book in your hands. Am I alone or is it I who is nuts?
