Canon XA25 Professional HD Camcorder is a compact “run-and-gun” camera that is suitable for ENG, event coverage, independent and documentary filmmaking. The camera features a 1/2.84″, 1920 x 1080 CMOS sensor that captures video at various frame rates up to 59.94p, including a 24p mode for a more cinematic feel. The integrated Canon 20x HD Optical zoom lens has a 35mm equivalent zoom range of 26.8 to 576mm and features an 8-bladed iris to render highlights in a more natural manner.

So if you use Canon XA25 for the 1920×1080 AVCHD recording and want to edit the Canon XA25 mts files on Mac with FCP 6/7/X, you could find that Canon XA25’s recording AVCHD MTS files are not the preferred format for Final Cut Studio. So if you want to edit Canon XA25 AVCHD video with high quality on Mac with Final Cut Pro 6/7/Final Cut Pro X, you can convert Canon XA25 AVCHD to FCP 6/7/X ProRes MOV before editing.

Here is the step-by-step guide for you to import and edit Canon XA25 MTS to Final Cut Pro 6/7/X on iMac/MacBook Pro with Mac OS X like Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks.

Step1. Load Canon XA25 AVCHD videos to UFUSoft AVCHD Converter for Mac.

After transferring .mts files from Canon XA25, run UFUSoft AVCHD Converter for Mac as the best Canon XA25 AVCHD to ProRes MOV converter, and click the “Add” button to load .mts videos.

Step2. Choose Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov) output format.

Click the “Format” option, choose the Final Cut Pro -> Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov) or HD Video > HD MOV Video (*.mov) as output format. Import Canon XA25 AVCHD format to Final Cut Pro 6/7/X for editing.

Step3. Merge Canon XA25 AVCHD files. (Optional)

Select the files in the filelist and click Merge, and the Canon XA25 1920×1080 AVCHD converter will join and combine the video clips into a single file as output.

Step4. Convert Canon XA25 MTS to ProRes 422 MOV for Final Cut.

Click the convert button under the preview window, the Mac Canon XA25 AVCHD converter starts converting Canon XA25 MTS videos to ProRes 422 MOV, and joining the MTS files for editing in Final Cut Studio.

After converting and merging the Canon XA25 AVCHD files, just import the output files to Final Cut Studio like Final Cut Pro 6/7/X and the video is in HD 1920×1080. You can also import the output videos to Final Cut Express (FCE) 4 or iMovie for editing in full HD.
