@P_R: It is a matter of ego.

That said, typically I take the same point-of-view you have taken: To each his own. However, I really despise fanboyism.

@TheLivingSpirit and @calebstein:

Good posts about what you like and dislike about the browsers. Much more useful than just claiming that your choice of browser is better.

You're welcome, karen. I'm not a fanboy for anything; and I simply don't believe in claiming something is better – at least, not if I don't feel I can back it up. But even if I think something is better, I'm not going to be at your throat forcing you to convert. I'd rather just state the facts and let you make up your own mind. In my view, people grow to respect you better the more professional and less egotistical you act.

Same here, Ashraf. “To each his own” is a line I use quite frequently in my life.

Firefox 4 looks cool.

I've never actually looked at Opera, has it always looked like that?  Cuz my first thought was that it looks like Chrome, but if Opera was first, then both FF and C look like O.

You got Pwnd

Like, for instance, would you like to give up your bookmarks bar right now, and replace it with Speed Dial?

I used Firefox extension Fast Dial for over a year.  Eventually I went back to using the bookmarks bar due to the bookmarks being more customizable–and Fast Dial is more customizable than Speed Dial!

Also, I have to disagree with you on the speed and extensibility.

So we agree to disagree.  I too find Firefox faster in day-to-day use.

Honestly, I do find Gecko to be a bit slower than everything short of Trident.

Personally, i have gone off firefox, i use Chrome for everything now, simply because firefox seems to just become more and more bloated and slow with every update. The firefox i remember was fast, but over the years it just became slower and slower.

It's a Shame really, since Firefox is probably one of the oldest and most supported as well as being the most extensible and customizable Browsers going.

But I use Chrome and Chromium due to it's speed and it's lightness. Also now it is becoming just as extensible as FF, in fact i no longer see any reason to go back now.

Difficult, to be sure…..but it shall be done!!

Firefox 4 is getting a much-needed update to its Javascript engine which should make it a lot faster again.

I still use firefox every now and then although I veered away from it as my main browser because of back to back updates to fix vulnerabilities. Kinda made the selling point of being a safer browser moot. Besides that, I couldn't use it to my liking without adding a few addons, which I somehow despise because of an added security vector to plug.

I don't really care much about page loading speed or rendering graphics and video etc since with a slow dsl speed of 1mbps and cleared cache, every darn page loads slow regardless of which browser I use. What is important to me is to have a browser which I just install, run, customize a bit and does what I need out of it.
