Well, I don't have any experience with Avast, but I've been running Eset NOD32 on all my machines (XP Pro SP2, SP3, and Win 7) for years. It's never let me down down. I do occasional scans with it and Malwarebytes Pro; no problems. My license comes up for renewal in January, but I'm staying with the regular AV, not the Suite. Folks whose word I respect haven't been enthusiastic about the Suite firewall.

I hear you, I am getting a divorce too. I haven't felt my computer so vunerable since XP service pack 3. Now my computer runs a system configuration check on my hard disks every stinking time it starts up.

I'm going to try out Nod32 and see what that does.

I'm so mad at Avast lsdjfhworfegn. You get me!

I'll let you know how nod32 turns out but I'm exhausted from AVAST! I don't know what they did in that update, but I think I deleted some of my registry items or something.

We shall see.

I run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware once a week on top of the daily scanners just because. There had been a few things found lately that I thought should not have gotten by Avast and I had been thinking about a divorce.

Two days ago, the same day you guys had such a good time, Avast had a party on both of my running computers. Seemed like every file it touched had a Trojan in it. Clearly it had had a meltdown so I put it out of my misery and installed the new version it had been "bugging" (oh that's so terrible!) me about.

No problems since but I don't think I will wait for another issue. The leaks before were enough warning. Difficulty is deciding which program to use.

I do have Essentials on another machine that does not get a great deal of use, but has had no problems since installation in October. Of course that's why I put it there - to try it on a low traffic machine. So far so good. Weekly scans are clean.

Yes, for about an hour my Antivirus kept going off. It was crazy. I scanned my computer with 3 other scanner to make sure. It was a bad update that's for sure.

I spent over 2 hours trying to figure out if I had real virus or not.

They got a piece of my mind (email).

I'm with you. This happens again, I'll go elsewhere.

Well I just spent the last few hours piecing my comp. back together after Avast Antivirus turned it to mush. Bad update from what I understand by Avast. Been reading a lot of good things about Microsoft Security Essentials. I think it might be time to give it a go. Anybody else?
