OfflineTrashMail, probably one of my most used and loved add-ons for Firefox, is no longer free. The developer has changed it so the free service no longer exists and has increased the Plus prices by 3x (because the service was being abused). RIP TrashMail… you will be missed.
Anyone have any suggestions for something similar? I know there are many temporary e-mail services, but I would like something like TrashMail that had an add-on for Firefox making it easy to create a new e-mail whenever desired.
Offline@ Ashraf: Yeah, I noticed this yesterday. Was most disappointed. It was also one of my most used and loved add-ons. I'm also on the lookout for a replacement. But is there one as good and as easy to use as Trashmail? I loved being able to use it straight from my right-click browser menu.
OfflinePR: I just took a look at MailCatch and it doesn't look too bad. Not as good as TrashMail, but not too bad.
There's even a Firefox addon that allows the right click thing.
From their site:
I'm thinking for now I'll give this one a go. While keeping my eye on this thread for something better.
Offline@ Wheezer: Just checking it – and some others out now. Has anyone tried Tempomail (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3883/)?
@ Ashraf: *sigh* Yeah, me too …
OfflineI just saw one add-on called My Spambox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4343/) but the email addresses that are generated are only for 12 hours, which isn't ideal. I loved being able to set my own time limits on Trashmail. Sometimes it can take more than 12 hours for such things as reg info to be sent out (if you're registering for a product, that is) …
Also looking at the add-on Spam Control (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8057/), which might be ok.
Also came across Spamavert (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4533/).
Might as well give all three a try and see what works best. I miss Trashmail though.
OfflineI use temporarily mailexpire:
http://www.mailexpire.com/create.php
It hasn't a firefox addon but at least it let you set the timelife of the email address (and it forwards the emails).
OfflineAnyone got anything like Mailcatch for Google Chrome? It would be a useful feature if there was.
I don't have much time to search for one and my recent searches haven't found anything thus far. I was hoping one of you new of an extension that could implement this in chrome.
Offline
Offline@Lascannon: Forwarding made it easier to check e-mails once they came.
@Conn09: Sorry bro, I don't use Chrome that much to know about such an add-on.
@Lascannon: I don't know.
@Karen: I do have a "spam" gmail account. However, sometimes, especially when writing reviews, I need to step through the registration process – such as for Ashampoo – multiple times so I can take screenshots. I can't use my spam gmail account more than once. Plus sometimes its just more fun to right-click and enter a temporary e-mail address rather than typing out my gmail one
.
OfflineUsing Mailcatch now. It's easy to use and, as Ashraf and Wheezer have mentioned, you can access the inbox in the right-click menu. I tried Tempomail yesterday, but the email address it generated was not recognised as legitimate. So that's been uninstalled. Didn't have that problem with Mailcatch. So I guess this is the one I'll stick with until someone comes up with another add-on as good as Trashmail. Thanks for the heads-up on it, boys.
