OfflineI was just hitting submit for yet another suspicious topic post on converters,
trp-video-converter-for-mac
but it had been deleted as I was typing. So here is what I was trying to send:
==================================
CAUTION TO ALL:
PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON ANYTHING ON THIS POST UNTIL CHECKED OUT BY ASHRAF! AS I'VE MENTIONED IN OTHER TOPIC POSTS, IF THIS IS OK, THEN THIS IS ONLY AN ALERT. IF IT'S NOT, THEN THIS WHOLE TOPIC WILL BE DELETED.
I have sent a “report post.” This may or may not be. However, just 2 days ago I reported a similar topic: “How to put HD videos on your iPod,iPhone,PSP and BlackBerry on Mac …”
After it was reported, & after checking it out, it was deleted (hence, you cannot look for it).
All of the other spammer’s topic deletions that I’ve reported in the past couple months had to do with converters, but the only difference is that the others were always by NEW “members,” who usually only posted a couple times to “get in.” And most had the same type of usernames. All pretended to be so helpful, with lots of links, instructions, images, etc.
===================================
Therefore, please be careful about some of these new topics, as there are people coming here for reasons other than trying to be helpful, like the REAL dotTech members do!
I am only trying to help. & almost all comments to my efforts have been positive, some very encouraging. Only a couple comments have insinuated that I may have been overly concerned, or a "little overboard," However, it can be like one of those cases where "if you only knew……" as all that I've reported & that turned out to be truly spammers, or worse, have been deleted.
For example, if you type in search for
trp-video-converter-for-mac, you'll now get:
There is no such topic named trp-video-converter-for-mac
And finally, for all members, if ever in doubt, please hit the “report post.”
[I would like to add that it would be helpful to get a confirmation, or PM, reply back, to let us know the status of the post, & to acknowledge any efforts]

BTW, I have never used the Report Post button. I just tell Ashraf about the posts with a PM.
Hey Adrian!
…. Well, last time I PM'd the Boss (about this stuff, anyway), he said I should just report post.
Whatever is preferred is what I'll do.The only diff to me, as I put in the last part of my previous message, is that "it would be helpful to get a confirmation, or PM, reply back, to let us know the status of the post."
I just like to know that, besides Ashraf, whoever looks into these reports of suspicious posts, has gotten it (i.e., confirmation of post received), & later, if possible, what was found out (not lots of details, just more like YES or No it was spam or……worse).
Because, like today, I spent alot of time making the message, only to not have it sent/received, as the person's topic was being deleted, & therefore as the post is vanishing….. & then gone, there isn't anything left to "report.").
