Be warned it might be an auto-install disc like the set that came with this family's 2001 Toshiba.

Do you know anyone that has an XP installation disk, if so ask if you can borrow it. (Make sure it is the same OS, ie Home or Pro)

Check with the manufacturer of your laptop, some will provide you with installation disks, while some provide them free others will charge for them, just depends on the manufacturer.

Another option is to try to find a bootable repair disk – these disks contain files to help you boot, BUT do not contain installation files. They are only used to help fix boot problems.

I have never used one of these, so can't make any recommendations but below is a list of a few places you can find them.

http://www.bootdisk.com/

http://www.allbootdisks.com/do.....xppro.html

http://www.eddiemaintenance.com/ This site has an all in one bootable CD for which they charge $10.00 (US?)

There is one place I do recommend, I thought they had one of these bootable disks for download, but couldn't find it. However, they are great at providing help. The forum is run by the guy who created Easy BCD. http://neosmart.net/forums/

Hope this helps.

Have you tried getting into Safe Mode? (If not, and don't know how, hit F8 (on most pc's) at the startup screen before XP starts to load.)

Pick what Safe Mode option you want to use.

If you have your XP installation disk, insert it into your DVD/CD drive then go to the Run command line on the Start menu and type sfc /scannow. (make sure that there is a space between the c and /) It has been awhile since I have done this, so can't remember everything, but I think you will get some options, pick the one that seems to be the best for you and then run it.

What this will do is fix any problems it finds and/or replace any damaged or missing files in XP.

OR you can try booting from your XP installation disk and then go to the fix errors menu

If that doesn't help I'll try to see if there is anything else that might help.

Ever since the problem of the network cable, my XP (/forums/tech-support/network-cable-unplugged-when-its-not/page-2) I haven't bee able to start up my computer. For some very weird reason, the computer doesn't "load" ....it just starts up, the MS XP loading screen and then, computer restarts. Simple as that. The computer does that continuously nonstop until i force shutdown....(hold the button). Anyways this happened right after i installed the new drivers and ever since i haven't bee able to use it. Any suggestions before the final solution of recovery? Thanks.
